no he was Cameron White, for confirmation watch the highlights of the match on youtube.
Here:
34.2 Mohammad Aamer to Clarke, 2 runs, dropped, how costly will that prove? Short on middle, went for the pull, got the top edge and Butt at fine leg got into a good position but spilled it once he'd got underneath, the crowd cheer behind him, that must hurt
Re: 2nd ODI: Australia v Pakistan at Sydney Jan 24
my dream team for future cricket
1- Salman Butt
2- Imrna Nazir
3- Kamran Akmal / Sarfaraz Ahmed
4- Muhammad Yousaf
5- Shoaib Malik
6- Umar Akmal
7- Afridi
8- Abdul Razzaq
9- Rana Naveed
10- Muhammad Ammer
11- Muhammad Asif
The thing about batting powerplay is, as a batting side you always feel that you can chase down anything in the region of 90-120 in the last 10 overs provided you have 5 or 6 wickets in hand
So you have to either push the RRR to 9+ during the last 10 overs or reduce your opponents to 6 or 7 down, otherwise you are really struggling
In the Champions Trophy SF clash against NZ, I remember Pakistan were still in the contest till about the 43rd over despite making a modest 230 odd in their 50 overs. But the batting powerplay suddenly changed the equation and NZ just ran away with the game, Rana spoiling the good work of the earlier bowlers
The bottomline is picking up wickets at regular intervals in ODIs is as crucial as restricting the rate of scoring
Just hope Pakistan learned something from the 1st game. Batsmen who were well-set - Kamran Akmal, Umer Akmal, Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik - all gifted their wickets to Australia by playing needless shots. They cannot just blame Younus Khan for their downfall. Good batsmen should be able to accelerate by milking the bowlers and hitting the odd 4 every now and then. 300+ looked gettable at one stage
Hope to see greater patience and application from our batsmen in the second game
Re: 2nd ODI: Australia v Pakistan at Sydney Jan 24
The only change I see is Gul coming in for Ajmal. Pakistan spinners were pretty ineffective in the first ODI, so playing 2 spinners wouldn't make sense unless the wicket helps spinners.
Batsmen gifting their wicket away is nothing new... I wonder when we're going to learn?
And somebody MUST talk to Yousuf about strategy and field placings. I can't believe neither of the coaches (Intikhab Alam, Waqar Younis) had any word of advice during the first ODI.
Even though Afridi made 48, he should show a bit of restraint. It seemed he was bent on hitting every ball, and was lucky a few times. Just minimize the risks and try to stay on till the end.
What's the point of bowling Asif for eight over straight? It's understandable if Yousif doesn't want to bowl Asif in the death overs (since Asif bowls seam and is likely to be hit with the old ball), but still he could've come in the middle overs to stop the runs. Just look at all the bowling changes Ponting did and how they worked for him.
Ajmal is not a threat for Aussies...I say Kaneria and Malik should share overs.
Umar Akmal should play one down.
The primary job of a number 3 is to make sure that we don't go from 1 down to 2 down as that often triggers a collapse. We have Younis in number 3 right now, who albeit slow, is most suited for this position as we can't have slow players batting at number 5 and 6.
Ajmal and Afridi have been Pakistan's strength in the ODIs lately (you must recall our ODI performances during 2009). Let's avoid making drastic decisions based on 1 bad match.
Kaneria has been tried in the ODIs and determined to be inappropriate, as his bowling wasn't strong enough (for ODIs) to compensate for his utterly hopeless fielding and batting. Why open that pandora box again.
Re: 2nd ODI: Australia v Pakistan at Sydney Jan 24
I don't get it -- we just had 2 months long demonstration of how our batting cannot take any pressure, then what special circumstances forced us to decide to give our batsmen the trouble of chasing today...
Maybe they are thinking it will be difficult for spin bowlers to hold the ball in the evening sessino, but this is a mid summer day, how bad can it be..
Re: 2nd ODI: Australia v Pakistan at Sydney Jan 24
and all the while we blame Yousuef for pathetic captaincy, let's not forget who else MUST be advising him and be held equally accountable accordingly--:> Intekhab Alam.
Note: This comment has nothing to do wtih match situation. It's obly been 3 overs.
