25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

so called UAE friends!!

btw .. americans are saying tht Shamsi airbase is not very crucial for drones attacks!
attacks can be carried out from other bases in Afghanistan! ... then why dont they just get the hell out of there!!

and furthermore, READ wht this US officials said!

*“By permanently cutting off supplies to Nato forces, Pakistan would not just be taking on the United States but Nato and the United Nations,” Reidel said. “The Pakistanis don’t want to do that.”
*

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

The most important part of that article is:

The real issue isn’t Shamsi, it’s air space,” the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP.
**
**So far there was no sign that Islamabad would bar the US aircraft from flying over Pakistan, and its announcement on Shamsi appeared designed to placate a domestic audience in Pakistan, officials said.

Talat Hussain’s piece, from his facebook page…

Long-term break from the US

by Syed Talat Hussain on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 3:03pm

Pakistan has reached breaking point with the United States and its replacement with a genuinely independent foreign and domestic policy. Previously, the ruling political and military elite, for personal and institutional reasons, never truly attempted to seek separation from a bad, exploitative and increasingly humiliating marriage with Washington. But the attack on Pakistan’s military check posts on the border with Afghanistan created circumstances that forced the ruling elite’s hand and finally pushed them over the line that they had kept avoiding to cross for decades.

**This event has proven beyond any doubt that the US agenda was to completely subjugate Pakistan and punch so many holes into its defence lines that these would become dysfunctional.
**
**But it is also true that while this event would have provoked Pakistan into some sort of a firm reaction, the response would not have been as wide-ranging as it has turned out to be if it was not for three other events. The first of these is the Rymond Davis case which for the first time publicly disclosed the nature of CIA’s secret war in Pakistan and proved the audacity with which US was operating on Pakistani soil in complete contempt of Islamabad’s status as an ally in the so called war against terror. It also revealed and further generated deep-seated anti-US sentiments at the grass root level and shocked the ruling elite into accepting that their policy of total compliance with Washington’s agenda had lost all public support that is if it ever had any public support. The second event was the OBL operation. That particular event was a direct insult and injury to the core of Pakistan’s establishment which had tried so hard to cultivate close ties with Washington’s political and military bureaucracy. It showed to the Pakistani establishment that no matte how hard they tried, they would always be dispensable for Washington that would always treat them as a speck on its strategic shoe. The incident also brought to light the possibility of US attempting a similar raid against Pakistan’s nuclear assets and then using international sanctions forcing Islamabad to accept its new ‘non’ nuclear status.
**
But what really created an unprecedented hatred and uproar in the inner sanctum of the Pakistani establishment was the Memogate. This particular document revealed the possibility of the US attempting a change within with help of cronies and henchmen. The Torjan horse nature of the memo’s content left little room for complacency in formulating a reaction that would cut off the multiple sources of US influence in Pakistan. The deadly attack on the check-posts provided the perfect trigger to touch off a response that had been developing for months. This response is likely to be spelt out clearly in the next couple of days starting today. It need to be close watched because this might be the most far reaching foreign policy revision that Pakistan’s ruling elite is attempting in decades.

****UNITED NATIONS: **Pakistan has brought to the attention of the UN Security Council the statement issued by the Defence Committee of the Cabinet (DCC) ****condemning the November 26 Nato strike on Mohmand checkposts.
**
The DCC statement has been circulated to members of the Security Council by its president and is being issued as an official document of the 15-member council.

Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon, who had arrived in New York on Sunday night after having consultations with the government, addressed a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. He apprised the Secretary General of the situation, saying that in the early hours of Saturday, the Nato/Isaf aircraft attack on Pakistan’s border posts resulted in the death of 24 officers and soldiers of Pakistan Army and injured another 13 personnel.

The DCC, in its emergency meeting chaired by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday evening, had condemned the attack in the strongest terms and declared it unacceptable. It reiterated the resolve of the Pakistani people and Armed Forces to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity at all costs.

In accordance with the resolution of the Joint Session of the Parliament of May 14, the DCC announced the closure with immediate effect of the Nato/Isaf logistics supply lines and decided to ask the United States to vacate the Shamsi Airbase within 15 days.

The DCC statement had also said that the government will revisit and undertake a complete review of all programmes, activities and cooperative arrangements with US/Nato/Isaf, including diplomatic, political, military and intelligence.

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

^ Good at last Zardari-led government & gay-establishment showing some balls !

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

This UNSC thing coupled with Talat Hussains piece **"This response is likely to be spelt out clearly in the next couple of days starting today. It need to be close watched because this might be the most far reaching foreign policy revision that Pakistan's ruling elite is attempting in decades."

**I hope the government/army devices some policy which is good for the country as a whole and not for the Americans as we have been making over the years.

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

The whole outrage reminds me of the Raymond Davis saga, which the ghairat brigade and army seized as their golden opportunity for point scoring against the US, only to be caught off guard later when their chief guest, Osama, was apprehended right in the bosom of Pakistan's West Point!

Pakistan can cry all it want but US lawmakers themselves, especially Republicans, have been been increasingly calling to do away with the transactional relationship with Pakistan and to declare Pakistan's duplicity what it is: a charade that hurts rather than helps the US and its allies.

Some Pakistanis might harbor delusions to the contrary but Pakistan is not really indispensable to the West. It can keep its nuclear weapons but once trade embargo, crippling sanctions, zero aid, and cut of all economic assistance from international organizations like the World Bank follow after being declared a pariah/terrorist state, the country will automatically come to its knees. It is NOT like Iran, with tons of oil and internal unity and without a very large province that is perceived as a bully, that can survive. Hello, Loy Afghanistan, Baluchistan, and Sindhudesh!

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

The sooner the Americans leave Pakistan on its own the better, Pakistan has suffered more due to this transactional relationship.

Yeah for Pakistan its Sindhudesh, Baluchistan and Afghanistan is united yeah? Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pashtunistan etc...

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

Didnt this issue call for a presidential or prime minster's address to the nation?

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

Afghanistan can remain united because it will have the support of the international community as well as its strategic partners like India and, soon, the US. But even if Pashtuns opt for Pashtunistan, that does not really help 'Pakistan...'

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

^ lol, the americans are also fed up with the corrupt karzai government which has eaten billions of dollars and still cant look after itself (the idiotic policies of America has already taken it into the GFC)...

as far as India is concerned it also has a lot of internal problems that it needs to solve before trying to become a policeman of the region, don't count upon the Indians or Americans that they will come look after you!

Dont worry about pashtunistan issue, if the pashtuns wanted it they would have demanded that long ago...a lot of things have changed over the past many years...

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

A good development, during the cabinet meeting it has been decided that Pakistan will not attend Bonn conference on Afghanistan

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

and what will they say?

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

also heard they have called a Joint session...

Good but not good enough...

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

take people into confidence, otherwise it causes confusion as to whats happening

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

What?

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

The National Address would be something like this:

" My dear fellow Countrymen! (what do you think of my suit anyway?), I am here to tell you that 28 of our Jawans has been martyred by the ISAF+NATO forces, through this media, i one more time warn NATO+ISAF of dire consequences, if they ever tried to attack our posts and kill our jawan, that won't be tolerated at all and we will protest again. Anyway, on the same token, they are free to kill as many Pakistanies as they want as long as they are civilian and that is by using drones only, although we condemn drone attacks and we have 1 or 2 resolutions from the parliament kind of thing we have in our country.

Anyway, getting back to the attack thing, we condemn it at all forums and level and we have already blocked supply to the NATO+ISAF, we will lift the ban once they run out of supplies, as i was informed that they have enough supplies for 14 days or more. Don't take this un-banning of supply as our weakness, we'll do it on pure humanitarian grounds.

Anyway, back to the topic, I have personally called Obama but they didn't answer my call saying they are busy, but it seems like my tone has conveyed the message and today you can see that OBAMA the President of US have also shown his grief over the loss of life. General Kiyani, I salute him for showing such patience at this time, where many of us had urgent need to change our pants, he just used some adult diapers.

Anyway, my courageous and brave fellow men, i would say, continue your support to the govt and stand against all the conspiracies Judiciary is drafting against the democratically elected govt.

I think we criticise the government for its faults, and we should also commend it if does something better…I personally think that its a good start…

Pakistan decides to boycott Bonn moot in protest

Last Updated On 29 November,2011 About 36 minutes ago

**Pakistan on Tuesday decided to boycott the Bonn conference to discuss the future of Afghanistan on December 5 in protest against NATO air strikes which killed 24 Pakistani soldiers, an official said.
**
“The cabinet has decided not to attend the Bonn meeting,” the government official told AFP on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to brief the media.

The meeting of federal cabinet headed by Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani was held in Governor House Punjab. Special prayer was offered for the soldiers martyred in NATO attacks and sympathy was expressed for the families of the soldiers.

The prime minister also announced to call a joint session of parliament to discuss situation after NATO attacks. Federal cabinet maintained that the incidents like Abbottabad and Mohmand Agency would not be tolerated and NATO attack on Pakistani check post was attack on Pakistan’s security and sovereignty.

While briefing the federal cabinet, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar took the cabinet into confidence over diplomatic contacts after NATO raid. FM said that NATO forces also violated the international laws along with Pakistani borders. The prime minister informed the cabinet that a joint session of parliament would be summoned to take the house into confidence over ‘memogate’ scandal and NATO attacks.

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

That is gonna hurt American efforts in Afghanistan more than anything. Not attending Bonn is a major deal. The plan was to use Bonn for a lasting peace deal and a deal to get out of the country asap. Now that Pakistan is not getting out, fully expect the Taliban and NATO to be fighting up to the very last day of the withdrawal.

Meaning expect more Drone strikes in Pakistan. More suicide attacks in the city and more pressure from the Americans.

Re: 25 Pak Soldiers killed by NATO shelling

^ and more american body bags heading home...

  • drone attacks can be stopped (needs will of pakistani leadership)

  • suicide attacks can be minimized if not completely stopped (sealing the border as much as possible, i know we cannot complete stop cross-border movements here) and furiously taking out any left american assets be the in the form of raymond davis or TTP rats

  • American pressure on pakistan, well we are pretty much used to it now, its a known history that pakistan performs reasonably better when under US sanctions, as compared to being on US provided oxygen

but what nobody will be able to stop is, increased number of US/ NATO casualties, and i wish the increase 100 times... may every single white man who stepped on any muslim country to harm them, be sent to hell, the sooner the better.
