fighter aircraft taking part in the attack has been confirmed from different sources (check yesterdays news on almost all major outlets)
there can be only two possibilities here

Air support was requested by USA/ NATO when those soldiers opened fire on attacking helicopters with their ordinary light weapons, because they were not equipped with MANPADS.

those fighter aircraft(s?) were given the their target in advance and coordinated with the helicopters from the start.
it cannot be a mistake because the two outpost attacked are almost 1KM apart from each other, both of these were recently set up after the crossborder attacks brom the TTP terrorists who had earlier escaped to Afghanistan under US/NATO protection. remember the airlifting of TTP assets by NATO from Swat just before they were about to be captured?
i can think of only two possible scenarios at the moment

this was agreed by top civilian and military leaders with the US, to shift focus from memo thing

this was an air-cover provided to the TTP (or alike) terrorists by NATO/US to enter in Mohmand Agency once again from where defeated and pushed back to Afghanistan their primary training ground and the place where they always retreat.
at the very least COAS and Air Chief must resign and face the courts for their incompetence.
