Sadiyah, you are incorrect on two accounts. That the only reason to suspect the killers were Sunni is that there are sizeable numbers of sunnies in that region, and that its hard to believe some sunnies dont want to kill shias. A quick google of the following should convince you otherwise.. Jamia Binoria, SSP, Riaz Basra, Lashkar e Jhangvi and any new names that they may have taken on. The stated aim of these organizations is to attack shias, and they have claimed, sometimes in press releases, thousands of shia lives over the past five six years alone. They are mostly a certain type of sunni. Deobandi and wahabi sunnies who have established centers all over different parts of Pakistan. These centers are not invented by the media, they physically exist, and I have seen them. Nor are the allegations against them something they deny, convicted members of such outfits have claimed to offer 2 nawafil after each successful murder/bomb blast.
The much rarer Shia retaliations have largely been aimed at such religious leaders who have either claimed attacks themselves or are known masterminds of them or have some connection to such groups. That such retaliation exists at all is sad and should be stopped by shias, but that it does not target the average sunni is a bit of a relief.
A few threads where this has been discussed.. you’ll find many useful links and names here, just to show that it isnt hard to believe that some sorts of sunnies do want to kill shias and vice versa, and still others try to justify it.

the family of a dear friend is targeted, their house has been targeted last night, thir shops robbed and burnt down too, just because they are sunnis, and rather well off…do you think it is fair?
i don’t, all what happen is very sad, no one knows for sure who kille innocent shias…and i’m very sad about these death
and the retaliation that happened thereafter is very not justified at all
