JL, they never said it will be end of world. Their calendar based on unique algorithm can't count beyond dec212012.
Read the scientific evidence pointing towards unusual or rare phenomena occuring in the same year that can cause very visible disturbance on our planet.
I know...
But do we have anything in their algorithm that says okay they predicted or knew about when and how they will disappear from this earth? In fact, they didn't even know what hit them... at the point where their algo ends their calendar, they understood it as end of the world for them or some other bs because the algo they designed or came up with ENDED there and thats how they perceived it for their own little world.
How can we believe people who were killing their own young sons and daughters for "gods?"

I agree with you. That is why I mentioned the astronomical activities that will happen in year 2012. Mayan calendar has nothing to do with end of world prediction. If they or researchers later on thought that way, its totally their ignorance.
Forget about Mayan and their calenar. Check out the astronomical data available on Ineternet. Its a very interesting topic itself. I never new about Solar flip until last year when this theory surfaced.
oh noo!!! the 21st of December, 2012 is a FRIDAY! run for your lives!!!!!!!!!!
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "Friday is the lord of days and the chief of them in Allah's sight, being greater in Allah's sight than the day of sacrifice and the day of breaking the fast. It has five distinguishing characteristics: on it Allah created Adam, on it Allah sent Adam to the Earth, on it Allah took Adam in death, it contains a time at which no one will ask for anything without Allah giving it, so long as he does not ask for anything
unlawful, **and on it the last hour will come. **There is no angel near Allah's presence, nor sky, nor earth, nor winds, nor mountains, nor sea which do not fear Friday."
has anyone here heard anything about 2012? If not, here is what's been goin around not sure if it's true through:
According to the Mayan calendar, the Maya believed that their world would end on Dec 21, 2012. Of all the dates put forth by prophets and cultures for a doomsday, this is one with an authentic almost eerie feel to it. But what will happen? A global cataclysm is one possibility.
Some say: the earth changes it's cycle after 2600,000 years and the cycle of 2600,000 years will be completed in 2012 which will cause floods, earthquakes and solar storms. I'm sure there have been threads here about 2012 but my question is:
Is 2012 doomsday for real? if not doomsday what major changes will occur on Earth? Please share your thoughts.
Thanks,
i just saw a video about exactly that a few months ago
everyone predicts when the world is going to end and no one knows for sure whether theyre right or if someone else is right
people have thought the world was going to end in 2003 and it didnt
people have thought the world was going to end in 2000 and it didnt
:)
like the dawn to dajal and all those events.i am not very well aware of those 11/12 things that has to happen b4 Qayamat but i think 2012 isnt the end of the world .baki Allah knows better
hehe...yea that's why I dont believe it because religiously it doesn't make any sense. Although I do think that the cycle of earth will change and there will be a lot of earthquakes, floods and weather changes. There might be disasters but that will not be the end of the world.
Correction: Religous scripture doesn't make sense LOGICALLY. Religion is based on BELIEF not Logic (for most people). Belief could be as illogical as human imagination :)
@K337: Perdiction is HARAM in Islam - How come we have these perdiction about end of the world? Catch 22?
@Frozen Fire: Bhai Jaan , ap ki shadi darkhat say kerwa dein? Saanp bhi mer jaye, bansari bhi na tootay?

hmm so what r u really trying to say? that it's false or it could be true?
when I said religiously it doesn't make sense, I meant there's so much more that still needs to happen before the world ends According to Qur'an and some signs of Qayamat by our Prophet. And Yes Religion is based on Belief but I do not find anything in Islam that's not logical.
I think Dushwari made a good comment about that, one can only guess at the hidden meaning…
**Dushwari:"**sounds like a great plan.
planting a tree on earth is a virtue at any time,
especially in hard times.
it enables one to know, that one can take care of life. "
Me not being a scholar my interpretation is our Holy Prophet was trying to tell us …that we should do good deeds at every oppurtunity…and not be worried about the end of the world…since no one knows when that will happen…and people had ask him this question…so many times…and his answer was always…it is close but only Allah:subhanahu: knows…like when He would say…Plan as if you are going to live 100 years…but act as if you were going to die tomorrow!
