has anyone here heard anything about 2012? If not, here is what’s been goin around not sure if it’s true through:
According to the Mayan calendar, the Maya believed that their world would end on Dec 21, 2012. Of all the dates put forth by prophets and cultures for a doomsday, this is one with an authentic almost eerie feel to it. But what will happen? A global cataclysm is one possibility.
Some say: the earth changes it’s cycle after 2600,000 years and the cycle of 2600,000 years will be completed in 2012 which will cause floods, earthquakes and solar storms. I’m sure there have been threads here about 2012 but my question is:
Is 2012 doomsday for real? if not doomsday what major changes will occur on Earth? Please share your thoughts.

2012 doesn't necessarily mean "doomsday." It means a period of extreme change. What change that is supposed to be.. we don't know. It could mean the end, or it could mean that we wake up and stop screwing up this planet. There are tons of possibilities.

modern day calendar is 4-6 years off. so we have passed 2012 already or it will come this year.

hehe...yea that's why I dont believe it because religiously it doesn't make any sense. Although I do think that the cycle of earth will change and there will be a lot of earthquakes, floods and weather changes. There might be disasters but that will not be the end of the world.

I doubt it's the 'End of the world' but then again that knowledge lies with Lord Almighty (swt). What we can predict is that, the world may not be as we know it today. From global warming to the on-going conflicts all over the globe, it can take a turn for the worse within the next four years.

There are three main theories beside the man made Mayan calendar.
Solar cycle completing. Polar shift phenomenon happens on Sun every 11th year. This time it will be the worst of last 7 cycles, causing more volcanic activities, Earth quakes and floods. We are already witnessing the increased frequency of Earth quakes since the start of this year. There are over half a dozen 7+ magnitude quakes in 24 hours, never happened since monitored.
Our Solar system is moving from upper disc of Milkyway to the lower side of it. In 2012 our Sun will be exactly on 180 degree to the black hole at the centre of the galaxy. A lot of gravitational impacts on the planets. It can effect Earth's clock wise movement, even reverse it (however no scientific reason). A large number of the stars from Sagitarrius will break away and join the outer crust of Milkyway (very close to our Solar system since we are on the outter edge of the galaxy and once belonged to Sagitarrius). This has been happening for a long time, but that year there will be way more stars joining our family of galaxy.
Finally, Sun, Earth, Jupiter and Satrun will be alligned after thousands of years, while Earth's North pole facing (then flipped) Sun's positive pole causing huge repulsion. Speculation is that Jupiter and Saturn's great gravitational force combined, can play a role to change Earth's polarization, North pole becoming South (-ve) and South becoming North (+ve). Some even go to the extend to say that Earth's movement can be reverse to anti-clockwise due to change in polar flip. I can't find the reason for it, if it has to be in a specific direction as far as polar position is concerned.
My conclusion is that there will be lot of Earth quakes and flooding due to increased Solar flares. That is the least. And then there will be a lot of recalculations on astronmical front. Next time a gravitational disturbance happens in two or three centuries will reverse Earth's movement and fulfill the prophecy of Quran. That would be the last phase of Qiyamat. Atleast 120 years after Jesus's death.

JL, they never said it will be end of world. Their calendar based on unique algorithm can't count beyond dec212012.
Read the scientific evidence pointing towards unusual or rare phenomena occuring in the same year that can cause very visible disturbance on our planet.
