What about celibacy? The concept of marriage has captivated the minds of desis through out the history. Why not just give it up and think of joining a monastery? The problems of everyday life such as “My mil talked me in a tone that resembled Nazi general Rudolph Hiess,” can all be eliminated if one does not marry? So what do you say who’s with me?
Re: 2010 and still people contemplating marriage?
If we all became celibate, then the human race would die and we can’t do that. Aunty Shagufta wants her nanay munay grandkids:nahi:
"Marriage is half the deen". I'll leave it up to you to figure out the exact meaning of this.

no at all huma, you're mixing it up with cleanliness :)
Re: 2010 and still people contemplating marriage?
yeah, and who does the cleaning around the house?
Re: 2010 and still people contemplating marriage?
I have heard this half deen saying too. I guess it is to do with procreating and making babies.

The issue of someone talking to you in a sharp tone will ALWAYS be there. If you're not complaining about your MIL talking to u with an edge in her voice............you'll be complaining that your sister/your friend/your boss/your coworkers/khala/phupo/cousin/cashier/nurse/ etc etc talked you in a rough way.
If it's not one thing, it'll be another thing.
Khair......people continue to do experiments to test out their theories and hypotheses. That said, Pendo, if YOU feel that celibacy will put an end to domestic khich pich.................then lead the way for us.
Nobody is getting in your way of donning a drab looking robe with hood......and secluding yourself to some temple in the mountains......far away from the everyday materialism and hustle bustle of civilization. Go, be a yogi. Test out your theories. Then share your results. We won't stop you.

There's cleanliness too, but "Marriage is half your deen" is a true hadith.
@dildirani: ... not so much!

As long as she's merely addressing you like Rudolph Heiss and not Heinrich Himmler, I fail see the problem.

Re: 2010 and still people contemplating marriage?
Marrying is important part of not only religion but social structure. i\It avoid many other problems.
These MIL or SIL problems are nothing compared to benefits of marriage.
Human lives are different than animals, but even animals do follow some territorial relationships.
Re: 2010 and still people contemplating marriage?
so if marriage is ahalf the deen, then applying some math, i can say 2 marriaages = FULL deen
If now only ladies would understand why men need to marry multiple times.
YB you have clearly failed to interpret this very meaningful hadith!
Re: 2010 and still people contemplating marriage?
