Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
You know even though, everything is against Pats in a matchup against Chargers, I just don’t feel good about it if I am a Chargers’ fan. You never know what kind of strings Bellichick is going to pull out against Rivers. Chargers would have to go Martyball at some point of the game. Hand the carries to LT like crazy!
Even though, odds and crowd will be against Eagles, but I like my team’s chances
We’ve come long away. All Eagles’ would have to do is to jump start qucik, score, expolit Saints’ secondary, and take the crowd out of the game. Tough but not impossible.
Bears’ defense hasn’t been same with the absence of Tommie Harris and Mike Brown - and in the regular season, Alexander didn’t play. Rex Grossman is the worst QB in the playoffs. If I am Seahawks, I will be more comfortable. Make Rex throw the ball.
Ravens’ are gonna be tough to beat at home but Peyton and Co. were able to come out victorious last year at Baltimore. Dunno how Jamal is gonna play. He hasn’t been same since return from jail. But I think Ravens will be more eager to throw the ball with Air McNair at helm.
I like Ravens in this match.
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
Da BEARS will attempt to stop the saints' march in chi-town, while in AFC, its gonna be another Bellicheck masterplan against Manning.
Brady is a GOD in playoffs... wat a game he had... remained patient thru out the game and delivered when it counted the most. His legacy continues!
Wat a great day it was for football fans... TWO back to back nailbiters.
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
3 out of 4 of my predictions came right. And the team i really wanted to win, the diego chargers, lost. Must be heartbreaking for NFL's best player and MVP, LT. These guys showed lack of discipline and made some critical mistakes that cost them the game.
Bears, bearly won vs. Seahawks and should prolly stomp over Saints unless Grossman throws more than an single INT.
I believe that this is Colts year (Now that Chargers are out). They should be able to handle business at home vs. the Pats and go on to beat NFC's representative in the superbowl.
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
New addition to the dictionary:
** Schottenheimer**—(German, adapted into English in 1980s in Cleveland,OH, later Kansas City, MO, more recently, San Diego, CA).
** Verb(gerund)—1.)** To find unbelievably stupid and unique ways to lose important football games; 2.) To choke in big games, particularly playoff games; 3.) To never play in your league’s championship game.
** Verb usage: 1.)** As everyone expected, the San Diego Chargers schottenheimered against the New England Patriots; 2.) Once again Marty schottenheimered the Chargers in Sunday’s playoff game, as it is difficult to play withyour own hand wrapped tightly around your own neck; 3.) It is so sad that Marty will likely schottenheimer his entire NFL coaching career.
** Conjugation:** I schottenheimer; I schottenheimered; I have schottenheimered, I will schottenheimer; I will have schottenheimered. Infinitive: to schottenheimer.
** Noun—**One who schottenheimers or loses close games that they should win through stupid coaching moves or sheer boneheadedness.
** Noun usage: 1.) **San Diego Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer is a nice guy and has a great regular season NFL record but he is such a schottenheimer in playoff games, it is enough to make grown people cry; 2.) Marty pulled a real schottenheimer when he called for a challenge of what was obviously a fumble recovery in Sunday’s game against New England.
** Synonym: See Dungy and Peyton Manning.**
** Antonym: See Belichick.**
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
It's remarkable how many times San Diego shot themselves in the foot. They don't seem to be a very smart team. There was definitely plenty of poor coaching. Not using Tomlinson more was criminal. There were also amazingly dumb mistakes by the players. Just off the top of my head:
McCree making the interception on New England's game-tying drive and not just going down to effectively end the game (or, even smarter, knocking it down since an interception doesn't help you...but that's harder to criticize since you want defenders to be naturally aggressive). You have to know the situation...you see many players just quickly go down after what amounts to a game-ending interception, so it's not beyond players in the heat of the moment.
Eric Parker not just falling on his muffed punt return. Instead, he went down on all fours and tried to scoop it up. Did he think he was going to get up again, at that point, and run? If he just falls on it, the play is over. Being on all fours, he got smashed aside and lost the ball he was picking up.
Drayton Florence head-butting a Patriot after a third-down stop just outside of field goal range. Startlingly selfish move, to cost your team so you can get into it with an opponent.
Should have gone Martyball in this game as Pats had no answer of LT's run. I feel bad for Schottenheimer that he hasn't won a playoff game forever, but he just falls apart too much.
And I don't know how many times I can see a DB intercept or recover a fumble and then foolishly try to keep running when downing the ball would be more beneficial. Ugh. McCree. How can a pro athlete, who's played the sport for years and years at a top level, not understand basic fundamentals and common sense? Drives me nuts.
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
Oh, and a good season by the Eagles. I knew it would be tough against Saints but we laid it all out. This year, the champs are coming from the NFC.
Go Saints!
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
Da Bears...
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
5abi and I know exactly how u feel about marty, dont forget the dude was at KC while i was in kansas.
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
That's great
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
yep, this was his 6th straight loss in playoffs, 4 with KC and now 2 with SD, he cant get it done even with viagra
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
bears executed tonites game flawlessly! way to go bears...at the beginning of the season, i didn't expect them to make it as far as the playoffs, let alone the super bowl! the defence has been exceptional and has made all the difference for them...
lets see if the can go on to win againsts the colts/patriots...i think they'll face the patriots 2 weeks from now...
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
How abt them BEARS... the whole town is celebrating like there is no tomorrow.... The superbowl party invitations flowing from all directions.. There will be lots of love for Grossman who didn't have a single interception in the game and their defense..oh boy. Smith becomes the first black coach to get to superbowl ... When he came to BEARS, he made two commitments in his first speech and it looks like both have come true
1. Beating Green Bay
2. Getting to the Superbowl
The bears totally deserve it ... Be it the Patriots or the Colts. i think we can take on either one of 'em. Go BEARS!!!
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
LOL @ beatin green bay..
anyways, Go COLTS
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
WOW 5 seconds after the above post, TOUCHDOWN BY COLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
SUPERBOWL BABY
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
What a f'ed up weather you have in Chicago Mr G LOL. Dont remind Grossman of Dec 31 game vs. Green Bay where he threw 3 INTs and had a passer rating of 0 and lost the game.
Peyton Manning got the monkey off his back. Biggest come-from-behind win, down by 18 pts. It was a classic game.
Superbowl is in Miami. Home Field, crowd and weather wont be a factor. Bring your A-Game.
Its the year Colts win the big one.
In related news Bill Parcells of Da Boys just announced retrement.
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
Colts vs Bears. What a game that will be!!! Who's going?
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
** Peyton Manning got the monkey off his back. Biggest come-from-behind win, down by 18 pts. It was a classic game.**
We did too... and since then, we are 1-0 :) BEARS D needs to score atleast 3 times for us to have a chance. Peyton is a very smart quarterback... bears better have all the way up to Plan D for him
Re: 2006 NFL Predictions
BEARS all the way.
Their D will win the game for them.
Atleast 3 INT/fumble from Manning.
Bears 20
Colts 17
my prediction...........................
