I have never attended one. Can someone briefly say what goes on besides speeches etc.

I went a long long time ago. It was alright from what I remember. They had a bazaar + speeches.

I attended one in 2000 in IL,It was more like a mena bazaar and fashion parade:)

Hey I’m going to the ISNA convention in DC at the end of this month…and then my family is planning on flying to Chicago in like August for the ISNA convention there, too (I heard it’s MASSIVE =O)
I went to an ICNA conference in NJ about 2 months ago. It wasn’t a whole convention, but they had a bunch of great speakers come up and address a different topic. I enjoyed it.

Phaty - ISNA is definitely HUGE and IMO much much better than ICNA. The only thing about Isna is that they have so many good speakers speaking at the same time so you have to choose one :-(

I went to the ISNA convention in Chicago last year. It was o.k. I didn't like how it was set up. There are about 10-15 lectures going on at the same time. A lot of them are interesting topics, so you have to choose which one to attend ... and most of them are with scholars who most of us have never heard of which makes it even harder to choose.
I prefer RIS which happens in Toronto over the Christmas holidays. One lecture at a time, and each lecture is by a well known figure.

ISNA FITNA also holding a huge convention/fair/poondi party in the QEW centre this Saturday.

Yea I’ve been to like 2 ISNA conventions in the past. I had fun.
lussi - Yea man it’s so pathetic how lots of people use ISNA conventions as a way to hook up with guys/girls. I know this one girl that ended up getting engaged to a guy she met at an ISNA convention.
