Sangakara ki sangi kutni paray gi. Get his wicket in the 1st hour or he can save the test for SL.
Re: 1st Test :Pakistan v Sri Lanka 18th-22Oct 2011
Dropping catches at this level is bad - 1 or 2 per innings is perhaps acceptable - Pak fielders dropped no fewer than 5 catches on day 4; Hafeez dropped 3, Younis and Wahab 1 each.
Given that the pitch is flat and conditions are extreme (the bowlers toiled away all day in extreme heat), it makes it even more unforgivable IMO
Sangakkara dropped on 56 by the normally dependable Younis Khan was the most costly and potentially game changing miss
Well, they are making up for not dropping catches on 1st day.
Re: 1st Test :Pakistan v Sri Lanka 18th-22Oct 2011
Cricinfo
Sanga has a big smile on his face and a big number against his name on the scorebook. He cherishes the fight, and he knows he will have to do more tomorrow to save this match. The rest of the team is at the edge of the boundary to congratulate him. And Pakistan, what do you say of Pakistan? Where do they get all the energy to keep creating chances over and over again despite such poor fielding?
Five dropped chances
, one inconclusive replay, one plumb lbw not given
, but the bowlers kept coming at the batsmen. Just how do they keep doing it? Barring a collapse of Pakistani proportions, they are still the only team who can win this match. Sri Lanka are still 16 behind with five wickets in hand. If they bat a session and a half tomorrow, they will start breathing a little easy. Pakistan will come hard again, though. It makes for another absorbing day’s play. Do join us. Until then, goodbye and good luck

Re: 1st Test :Pakistan v Sri Lanka 18th-22Oct 2011
aaah only if had scored at good rate...we had 50-60 more runs on the board.
Dropping catches at this level, in a test match ....and 5 of those in one day is simply not acceptable. I dont know how can we still expect them to win the game. This brings back the sore memories of the Test Match against Aus when we were on our way to beat them by an inning and lost the match eventually.....

For the records, its almost after 2.5 years that Pakistan has made 500+ score. Interestingly last time when they scored 500+ (Feb 2009) was also against Sri Lanka. ![]()

Re: 1st Test :Pakistan v Sri Lanka 18th-22Oct 2011
and there is slight chance for Srilanka to save or even win the match…
Sanga need to bat aggressively, and a batsman like him have a tendency to do that without taking much risk… they need to bat till mid of 2nd session, give Pakistan a target of 150 or so… and they can hope to draw if not win…
Taufeeq and Asad wasted to many deliveries, Pakistan is some 80-100 runs short and this is can cost Pakistan a victory…

Yeah you are right even Asad played so slowly ......and still SL have 5 wickets left

Dont forget to add Azhar and Younus to the list. You cant single out Asad for this. Look at the strike rates. Taufeeq increased his rate towards very end when much of the time was lost. These rates should hover around 50 at least from the start. Sangakara has scored his 161 on 295 balls (54+ rate)
See what their score was and what it would have if they scored at the rate of 50
Taufeeq Umar 236/496 (47.58) -----> 248 = 12 more runs
Azhar Ali 70/198 (35.35) ----> 99 = 29 more runs
Younis Khan 33/94 (35.10) -----> 47 = 14 more runs
Asad Shafiq 26/94 (27.65) -------> 47 = 21 more runs
so that means 76 more runs only if they have scored with 50 strike rate. Anything more would have been bonus.
Re: 1st Test :Pakistan v Sri Lanka 18th-22Oct 2011
Actually its not the runs we are short of its the time cz we played slowly

Not really, Pakistan is going to pay for 5 dropped catches.

What you said is right...
But Younis and Azhar Ali are known for this kind of batting... that is what they do all the time... on the other hand, Asad, when he came in, he played 68 or 58 deliveries for his 10 runs... same with taufeeq, when he scored his double ton he should have accelerated but he ate way to many balls to score 36 on top of his total...

Cant believe One of our safest Fielders Hafeez and Younis dropped so many catches

nah drop catches is what we are known for, actually i was surprised that we didn't dropped any in the 1st innings...
Pakistan normally have to score little more considering its lousy fielding...anyway have we grabbed those chances Pakistan might have concluded the test today..

Pakistan crossed 500+ after umpteen years. Even "slow scoring" is our norm (for some time now), we should put the blame where it should be i.e. lousy fielding. "Catches win you matches" is not said without a reason.
