I was reading somewhere (some 3-4 months ago) that when Aamir was picked for the team (for the first time), it was the competition b/w him and Junaid for the spot. I am hoping that he can develop into as good a bowler as Amir was.

Amen to that. I did not have much hope from Junaid prior to this test but seems like Waqar did do him so good, specially since he has started to come from round the wicket.
btw Aamer is still exceptional, just that he cannot play! :)

Praise from Sangakara for Pakistani bowlers
Kumar Sangakkara has said that Pakistan’s attack bowled “exceptionally well” on a day when only he stood between Sri Lanka and defeat in the first Test in Abu Dhabi. Sangakkara batted through the fourth day to score 161, whittling the deficit from 267 to 16, as Sri Lanka finished on 298 for 5. Pakistan would have taken several more wickets, though, had their fielders not dropped five catches.
*“Pakistan bowled exceptionally well, they used the new ball well. The spinners came on and they also continued to keep the pressure up and that doesn’t help,” Sangakkara said. "It’s a new attack, they got two seniors in [Saeed] Ajmal and [Umar] Gul but it’s heartening to see two young bowlers come in.
“Junaid [Khan] used his angles well and used his pace variations well. He bowled in the right areas and that has been a challenge. We have not yet been able to overcome that challenge, but we should do it.”*

Nope, it was basically between talha and Amir and not Junaid. Talha who is the fastest Pakistani bowler since Akhter and I immediately became a follower of his career since I saw him for first time in 2008. To me he deserved far more chances than what he has been given so far, I would ruthar give him a long run in the team specially in tests than umar gul. But unfortunately, I m not allowed to pick a Pakistani team. But mark my words, talha is one effing awesome talent.

It is a draw. 414/5, lead 100 now for SLA
Poor scoring rate combined with poor catching (esp. dropping Sanga on 56) has denied us here
Hence it is so important that your top 6 batsmen score runs at a decent strike rate (50+/-) in tests. Crease occupation (although a welcome change from frequent collapses) merely is not good enough

36 overs (effectively 34 - deduct 2 overs for change of innings) remaining in the day's play
Pakistan need to bowl Sri Lanka out in the next 10-12 overs to have any hope of victory
