Can we at least agree that this SC is not impartial? Something that some of us have been saying for a long time but is only being realized by some.

SC's conduct would have been very different had this been a case against PPP. Here 'maintainability' takes years but in other cases SC makes its decisions in a hurry.

He said than bravely in SC in those days that he have done this and said some thing more that this case was remained close for more than a decade after that .

Allow me to remind you that this petition was filed in 1996 when Justice Sajjad Ali Shah was he head of the supreme court. Pakistan had around 10 chief justices in last 16 years while this petition remained in the cold storage of our judicial system.

Who finally brought it out of that cold storage and who ordered that the criminals be penalized? Isn’t it “this SC”?

And who is holding press conferencess today in jubilation? Who is saying that PPP stands vindicated? Who will gain from this ruling? Isn’t it PPP?

Chacha miaN mein ney to pehley bhi kaha tha, emotions and arguments should not mix.

That is very true. And in another interview with Kashif Abbasi around the same time, he mentioned how they were on the verge of dissolving IJI but were stopped by Maj Gen Naseerullah Babar.
The biggest mistake ever made by ZAB was to politicize the ISI. Since then, ISI has been impossible to control on the political front. I dont know why the current (or past PM) didnt issue any decree ordering the dissolution of ISI's political wing? Even if on paper, it would have been an important first step.

PPP main beneficiary of Younis Habib

  • In 1988-90, Younis Habib, as one of the top executives of Habib Bank Limited (HBL), illegally waived Rs4,000 million loans on the orders of the then PPP government and the loans mostly were given to PPP men. Various lists of loans write-offs verify this and Younis Habib has once again confessed this in one of his recent TV interviews on March 12 but again twisted the facts by saying that in fact he had written off only the interest and not the principal amount. Younis Habib was not asked specific questions on this count despite the fact that this was the biggest written-off amount.

  • In the 1990 elections, Younis Habib distributed money (Rs140 million) among various politicians on the direction of Pakistan Army, ISI and an election cell operating in the Presidency. This time the money was used against the PPP. According to varying statements of Younis Habib, Nawaz Sharif was given Rs3.5 million whereas Shahbaz Sharif was sent a TT of Rs2.5 million but he confused the date and in some interviews he stated that Shahbaz Sharif was given money in 1993. This was the only instance the public money available with Younis Habib was used against the PPP on the directions of the establishment.

-** In 1992-93, according to Younis Habib, he spent Rs250 million to topple the Nawaz Sharif government during a long march and some other activities.**

  • In 1993 elections, he gave Rs50 million to top PPP leaders for election campaign. In an interview with The News, Younis Habib admitted paying huge amounts to the PPP leaders but said that he had forgotten their names. Younis said that he had all the documentary evidence in this regard, which he said is in currently in Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s possession. He said that if these documents are handed over to him, he could disclose the names of all the recipients of the money. In 1994, Younis Habib gave an interview saying he had given Rs50 million to Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari but he now insists he doesn’t remember having given this interview.

  • In 1993 elections, Younis Habib allegedly distributed various amounts to religious party leaders (he used the term Maulvis) to cut Nawaz Sharif’s votes, again to support the PPP but he doesn’t remember the exact amount.

  • In 1993, he distributed money for the presidential elections of PPP’s candidate Farooq Leghari. It includes purchasing of barren land of Razi Farm in DG Khan at a very high price.

  • In 1993-94, Younis Habib gave a huge amount of money to the PPP to topple PML-N’s Sabir Shah government in the NWFP (now Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa). He admitted on record in his recent interviews that he gave Rs110 million to the PPP but he was unaware of the purpose of money being taken from him at that time.

Agreed. This thread is about partial and incomplete judgement of Ch Iftekhar. Again shame on him and the people who are trumpeting songs in his praise. He should have announced long term imprisonment, penalty of getting back all government money back with at least payment of Rs 1 billion as punishment and getting all money back from the anti-PPP politicians with life ban on their participating in the elections.

Which then PPP government are you talking about? Before 1988 was Zai’s installed government of Junejo. Even after so much rigging and invlovement of army in 1988 elections Benazir was able to form government in the center, Punjab was given to N$ by the army. Above news item does not based on facts. Keep this thread for this particular event please don’t mix lies in it.

**What case, he should have decided as I suggested above. If he can send elected PM of Pakistan home for not writing the letter, he should have decided by himself after satisfying himself that great injustice was done to Benazir her PPP and to the people of Pakistan whose rights were usurped by these corrupt military officers "jo samjhtay hain Pakistan un ke baap ki jaagir hay".

These very corrupt officers never took oath under Pakistani constitution, what they had any right to loot and rule the country?

^ the case was not for sending any one home, it was to check if something wrong happened in the elections which has been proven. PPP should bring forward a case, and the SC should punish every one involved.

This was not a criminal case. Supreme court does not have jurisdiction over what you are suggesting. It is the duty of the government now to initiate criminal proceedings against the people you mentioned in criminal courts.

If corruption were a criteria to be banned, no PPP candidate would ever contest elections. General sey NRO ki bheek mangtay hain, phir establishment ko rotay hain... aala!
