Enlightenment is the only way out of tribal ignorance and arrogance.
What "Enlightenment" are you, specifically, talking about, one that we saw for eight years under his Excellency, or that we are witnessing throughout the world under the marquee of lone super power, or that we we just saw in Gaza, or that we will be seeing in Pakistan in days to come.
Why did that enlightenment of so called enlightened nations make the beasts in them more human than the one they are preying upon. You can't enlighten people by words or you can't take the ignorance out of people by calling them "islamist" or using guns, or can you?

People who truly deal with injustice, learn how to use their BRAIN and not AK-47. Gun culture is pretty common among tribals, while book culture is common among civilized people.

It would be interesting to see where you would class me. I believe I am an Islamist or at least I hold that Islam is my greatest identity.
Now I also know and believe many Islamic scholars today and in the past have used and built the foundations of the spherical world and were paving the way to the discovery of a heliocentric model for the universe, which has been superseded.

Hopefully by now, you have realized that it is not good to discuss the guppies (unless the thread itself says “discuss the guppies”).
Instead we all should discuss ideas.
Islamism is an idea, and Islamists have bought into it.
The process is the same as when people buy into other ideas like communism.
Thus it is upto you to decide which idea have you accepted. Then only you would know about it, unless you come out and support your favorite idea.
Coming back to this thread, Saudi grand mufti bin baz as a person is not being discussed here. It is his belief in the idea that earth is motionless is the topic.

Well said. Next time when we start a thread, let us not use terms such as "Islamists" (Ummah) which are made by Islam haters such as Fox TV....etc. Also sentences such as the following can not be tolerated because they show lack of respect for people who follow Islam.

In short, let us not use sarcastic/offensive language when we talk about any religion. If we are too much worried about the condition of any Ummah, let us sincerely share positive and inspiring knowledge with honest criticism. Just random criticism of the whole ummah with generalization doesn't do much in helping any ummah in their critical times, but it might spread hopelessness and frustration in the hearts of sensitive readers.
