samb, that might be true, but media is also playing very important role of highlight things like this. If there was no media stuff like this would've been covered up and there would be no justice either. Its the media thats putting pressure on govt/courts, and in a way its also educating the public that we as society cannot tolerate stuff like this.
Shamraz, I really appreciate the overall role the private media has played since it started. they have made a lot of positive contributions. finally the common man can be heard on TV and he feels like he has a stake in this country.
but surely it's time for the media to start growing up and to show more responsibility? I'm not even asking for a lot. just that they should double check their stories before going viral with them. similar to what Icon said. first they call them docaits being subjected to mob justice. then the story changes. but there is no acknowledgement, no apology in between. why? this has happened far too often in the past couple of years. it's not just a case of reporting a story. this has widespread ramifications. they reported the killing of an alleged docait in Karachi some years ago where the poor guy was set on fire while alive. after that story aired, more copycat executions took place in Karachi within weeks.
Pakistani media can't continue to hide behind the excuse that it's new, etc and is still finding its feet. it needs to grow up NOW.

Yes. Apart from showing the video, the media did its job right in this case. They only showed what came out initially.
If this were not media, we would not have known why even this mob did what they thought was right. They were wrong.

It is people who took it as glorifying. I listened to some news reports. When initial reports came as these two being decoits, the media was leaning towards showing people how the police inaction about robbery led people to react this way. Later they presented other side when it was revealed. They brought the intervews of concerned people.
In your little world, media should have waited days after the incidence to bring both sides of stories at one time. How naive of you.

slightly delayed but properly investigated and accurate news reporting is infinitely better than inaccurate, one-sided real-time reporting.

Media and its competition to report the first one makes things very difficult these days unfortunately.
We have both opposite views now.
Lets see what happens to the culprits and above all the most impotent and evil people called police in Pakistan.
I say these so called law and order people are the most responsible who cause problems like this. They have no concience at all and have failed to protect civillians again and again. Be it from robbery, from religious hatred or to target or random street killings.

diwana bhai i have been very appreciative of media's role. But coverage of this incident has disgusted. Currently i have only GEO news connection, i dont know how are the other channels doing. GEO has been absolutel disgrace. Even now, the headlines there are running are

No one's saying that the media shouldn't have reported the incident... what they should have done is abstain from making allegations while doing due diligence and fact checking. Furthermore, after the facts were revealed, there's no harm in apologizing to the public for incorrect reporting. If reporting of this nature happened in the west, the channels would have been hurled with hefty lawsuits.

This part of 'reporting' is dispicable. Video posting and sensationalzing the issue is what media should never do. Geo and Dawn are taken over by some people who are inclined towards the neighbor country. Listen to the language they use, its infomercials or the way they report.

I cried like crazy when i saw the video of the whole thing that took event video removed
its sooooo sad and sick ! how can a human being do this? HOW? they made a 8 year old kid beat em as well? why? Allah maafi dai. they hung teir dead bodies upside down in the middle of the road ya Allah astagfurulah. :'( i have no hope for this pakistani qaum. they brought all this upon themselves. when i looked at this i said to myself that all these floods and natural disasters are what they deserve!!!!! Allah ka azaab is qaum per hai. bunch of animals! i wish i could give em a 100 times worse death and hang their bodies just like that except naked!!!!! they deserve this! :'(

for those cursing and wishing god's wrath over the entire nation over this sick incident are on the same mental level as those animals in this video. doesn't take much for us to go all vigilante does it...makes us feel so much better when we can blame others for the hell they are living in, just so we can sleep easy at night.

If anyone is to be held responsible for this incident then it should be the Sialkot POLICE. They were supposed to stop people from lynching, EVEN IF these people really were criminals (they were not).
This incident shows that policemen all around the country, especially Sialkot, need better training procedures on what to do in such situations. If this most fundamental follow-up is not done then lynching will continue to be practiced by the mobs.

lol, I'll repeat this once, with an example to get my point across.
Suppose you are one of those innocent kid who got robbed by some dakaits, and when you resisted, they shot you. I happen to be one of the resident who kept complaining about those dakaits and I live down the road from your place. I happen to come intime and watch happened. You are dead and robbers (dakaits) were getting away. Now I start beating the crap out of them regardless of what they are, because they have killed you, an innocent being, and have bothered the entire block for a while. Than I and others group up and beat them some more, and hang them by the neck in public to show Police who is also standing and watching the show but doing nothing about it. To show them that if they dont do anything about it, public can.
You guys took the news to a whole new level, twisted it from time to time and made it something close to where those youths were committing a crime by resisting from robbers, and those robbers were doing the right thing. Stick to the original freakin news guys.
