18% of this world's population is Muslims

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

I agree with you....These interpretations are nothing but to gratify human ego of belief.....yes belief in modern time has taken the form of ego.

But to the best of my knowledge Upanishads are pure philosophy and are mostly away from rituals of religions....also concepts like conversion never existed in Dharma.

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

Barbaric rule, Umer ra own servant was a persian who never converted. Time to acknowledge that Nangey sadhu chanting mantars and drinking urine were no longer provided spiritual satisfaction to large number of people in subcontinent, hence they converted. Now go eat some dead body.

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

^ That shows your level of knowledge in debate.....I was expecting-- either you will find a servant to rescue your revered r.a. or you will resort to some naked sadhus.

May all saddhus be upon you.:)

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

This shows ur level of knowledge...

Umar (RZA) never directly rule India, ( if u dont Include Afghanistan and Persia in India) infact it was ur Looter Raja who called muslims to India...anyway let me ask u a simple question.

Suppose Muslims were barbaric in nature and sharia is barbaric law....

Why the hell then Muslims were not able to convert whole of the Indian Population to Islam... what stopped them doing so... now please dont tell me that most of the population decided to resist and then they resisted for 1000 years and called French and British to rescue...

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

this is what i expected....oyey malhot....now come and join the "discussion".... ..Be a man :D

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

Ohhh...Boy.....have you ever tried to come out of Ummah ideology and read history from a neutral perpsective??

Hear is some facts for your consideration --

Firstly, I mentioned Umar--- NOT for India- read my post again it says Persia and I know Umar was dead much before Umma spread in subcontinent.

For your disappointment -- following things were practiced under Umar--your revered r.a. with inbuilt sunna in him--

(1) The other faith people as Dhimmis--second class citizens--this gained wide practice under Umar--your r.a. (may all dhimmis be upon him:) )

(2) A tax called Jizya--to be paid by those people who are not ready to accept arab Islam as their religion---was strictly enforced during Umar--your r.a..(may all these Jizya money be upon him:) )

(3) Non-Muslims were not allowed to bear arms--and this was implemented by one radical with name like Khalid ibn Walid something like that under able guidance of your revered r.a.

(4) Non Muslims were not allowed to build any new places for worship---existing old places needed strict permission for repair.

(5) Overall they were treated as a second class citizens.

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

Good question dude.

This needs a full look into history.

But I will just hint you....

I am not sure if you know Adi Sankara----But I am thankful to Adi Sankara who brought Upanishads in the life of common people.

Uptill now Dharma was based upon Puarnic stories--- and I agree has it not been Adi Sankara--whole of Indian subcontinent has been Islamic country--learning Arabic in madrassa.

Before Adi Sankara time....Majority of Hindus even the Brahmins screwed up the whole Dharma into caste and rituals.

Also majority were unaware about Upanishads and it's core philosophy.

I credit the sheer class of Upanishads and it's highest level of knowledge which made true believers to stick.

During British India, we produced myriads of great Yogis like Swami Ramkrishna Paramhansa and his disciple Vivekananda, Rajaram Mohanroy, dayananda Saraswati who revived Dharma.

There were also some warriors in India scatterred here and there in all parts of India and thus became difficult to conquer.

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

I had feelings that u will bring Jaziya up...

Now stop being bias look at the other side of coin....
1) By what means u can say that? Muslims and non-muslims were treated fairly when it is law and order issue, justice issue ( infact Umer (RZA) beheaded one muslim who was not satisfied with decision of Prophet (PBUH) on an issue between him and a jew). Non-Muslims mainly chirstains and jews in his era were more safe than they were ever before.. i think it is time for you to take some history lessons again.

2) Non-Muslims have to pay Jaziya, In return ths State was responsible for their security and other facilities... Muslims on the other hand, have to pay zakaat, and it was mandatory for every muslim u falls under certain criteria.

Umer (RZA), exempt those non-muslims who were not able to pay jaziya and them WAZFIA from from the state treasury.. i think ur biased history writer forgot to mention these facts related to jaziya as well...

3) First of all u have no right what so ever to call Names of our respected personalities.. even if it us religious teaching refrain from doing so...get the words rite i ll answer this.

4) This order was issued in Quran itself and it was limited to Arabian Penisula. and please do provide me with the particular ref. when muslim did so.. they did it when they conquered Jerusalm or when??? please do mention

5) by which means??? if u mean the way Hindus are treating muslims in India or what? please be specific...

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

The reality is that I was angry with people like Diwa_I_Dil who have been rubbishing every religion and calling them corrupted, etc etc.!!

His remarks about other religious holidays were unacceptable & were intolerant of others beliefs.

I wanted to show people like him, that only 1 in 5 people are Musliim and other religions play an important part in the other 4 people.

I apologize for starting this thread.

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

Adi Sankara was in Muslim era of India? i thought he is post buddha era???

My question is still unanswered! let me rephrase it for u

With barbaric religion and behaviours Muslims had! why they were still in minority after 1000 years? they could have forced non-muslims to accept it... dont tell me that they scared of little resistance here and there and yet that resistance can never challenge Muslims rule????

Just answer this question.. and please this time answer it with logic !

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

These are the major religions of earth

1) Budhist
2) Christainity
3) Islam
4) Hinduism
5) Atheist
6) Jews
7) Others

out of them Islam is youngest one.

divide the human population with these and numbers will be easy to see and compare

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

Let this topic deal with knowledge rather then debate, you have conveyed your message on neutral history, which i feel is a no no, this is a completely biased history for anti-muslims.

Fine forget it now, i want the following details from you so that i can go ahead with the topic

1) Authentic evidence, please provide it from neutral links (though, i hardly bother much about links a brittanica would be a good one).
2) Books you have referred too.

Because, i am neither here to show my prowess nor to fight and mudsling. So i kindly respect you too provide me the above stuff. Hence, let me start a one on one debate on you and you alone.

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

I brought several things up--which were practiced under Umar..as expected you noticed only Jizya.

Jizya was the Tax charged much more heavily than even modern norms of most strict tax system...It's pathetic you are comparing Jizya with Zakat.......Zakat is not even mandatory and rich muslims were obliged to pay for benefit of Umaa ONLY...and NOT for Kaafirs living under their oppressive rule...now, stop glorifying Zakat by comparing it with Jizyaa which was compulsorily enforced upon Kaafirs.

I already urged you to come out of your biased knowledge of so called r.a. Umar---and think from a neutral perspective.

You are quoting an incident when Mohammed was alive...I was telling you History of Umar's rule after Mohammed's death. You got the difference??

Even in that case, you have said Umar killed a man because the man was not satisfied with Mohammde's ruling......this only shows how much tolerant your beloved r.a. Umar was that in his view being not satisfied was a crime punishable to death....great "religion of peace"!!
Non-Muslims mainly chirstains and jews in his era were more safe than they were ever before.. i think it is time for you to take some history lessons again.
You have no idea about history of Sassanid rulers of Persia--- and their golden rule not to mention majority of Jews lived freely during that time ---before Umar invaded this and destroyed the whole thousand years Civilization of Zoroastrians.

I don't have enough time in my hand to give you history lessons here....it will take another 50 pages to understand the Persian Civilization
....but humbly request you to read something more than Quran and Hadeeth....Only then you will realize your revered Umar and his Army General Khalid ibn Walid's exploits.

I think only guyz like you glorify these here and there incidents and collectively forgetting the majority cases.

And yeah....some people even told me that revered Umar kept a "servant" as Jew....woww what an honour...real symbol of mercy!!

3) First of all u have no right what so ever to call Names of our respected personalities.. even if it us religious teaching refrain from doing so...get the words rite i ll answer this.

I don't think Umar or other Muslim invaders are Prophets or some equivalent respectable figures....These were invaders, who invaded other countries...same like America is today invader of Iraq.

But this simple thing is difficult for many to understand.

Read history from independent sources and you will know your glorified heroes exploits in the name of Umma and Jannah.

4) This order was issued in Quran itself and it was limited to Arabian Penisula. and please do provide me with the particular ref. when muslim did so.. they did it when they conquered Jerusalm or when??? please do mention

I am not really sure about history of Jerusalem.....

As far as I know, when Umar invaded Egypt and Palestine (Jerusalem), majority of people were converted during his reign.

a very few no. of people who were still Orthodox Christians were left with no choice but to submit to Umar's will and were granted Dhimmi status with all those descriminatory laws.
Umar also made a treaty in his own style called "Ummariya Treaty".

I don't know from any independent historians that-- all Jews of Israel ever lived under Umar's rule???
5) by which means??? if u mean the way Hindus are treating muslims in India or what? please be specific...
From history you siddenly came back to modern time, I am sure you will like to stick to topic....we can debate about minority issues in Asian countries in some other thread.

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

Slave of Allah.....I respect your knowledge about your faith...and I remember I have debated with you about History of Islamic Prophet and you have answered the things very well.

But this debate is not about Islam as a faith.
No intention at all to offend the faith in fact.

My views are purely historical facts.....please keep faith and history seperate.

It's really sad when people glorify invaders like Umar.

Well, I agree he might be a great believer of Islam...but definately an invader.

Sorry I can't give you link for each and everything..limited knowledge is not gained from Goolge.com---it's an extensive reading of history books.

Go in any decent library wherever you are located and read some books about Sassanid rulers and Zoroatrians migration to India and you will know more about exploits of Umar's army.......agree and dis-agree is nothing but Gupshup.:)

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

Adi Sankara--as per historians was born in the time of 7th century---same as Islamic prophet period.

I mentioned Adi Sankara because it was he who brought Upanishads (Vedanta) into more peoples knowledge....before him it was known only to few. Till now Brahmins mainly exploited the Puranic story for caste system and tribalism like tradition.

Are Muslims a minority in Arab countries??

I don't think any logic behind this question.....Muslims invaded India...millions got converted...what else is required??

Do you mean that Umma wishes to convert entire world ??

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

Peace All

Muslims are supposed to call people to the worship of One God. I wonder how many people in the world are Monotheistic, Unitarian or the likes?

According to my understanding Hinduism originated as a monotheistic religion, also we as Muslims believe in that all peoples have at one stage been sent their own messenger from God. So to account for the influence of Islam we should be counting Christianity, Judaism, Sabeanism, Zoroastrianism and the likes because Islam predates Muhammad (SAW).

Agreed that most or many people will not be following the unadulterated teachings, but what better way to bring people together than to agree on the similarities rather than focus on the differences. Many Hindus today believe in only One God, it is the characteristics of that One God that Muslims and Hindus differ on.

Can u please provide me with the ratios with which Jaziya was charged.. coz Umer (RZA) also imposed some other taxes on farmer and traders.
If a muslim in life of Prophet goes against the word of Prohphet he must be killed right away!!!

For Peace one should submitt oneself to a greater power and then practice what is implemented by that power.. there should be someone to lookafter if those are implemented or not.. failing to do so... means giving liberty to every one for doing what ever they want, will not give peace to any one, yet it will create anarchy.

I only asked one question,, which u still haven't answered ( till this point. first u mentioned Adi and now sassanids...but no answer to what i asked.

But

And still those Chiristains and jews prefer to stay under muslim rules for next thousand years... yet they have choices to go to christain lands but those lands were way to risky to live. and tax (jaziya) muslims where charging seems to be way to less than TAXES were imposed by chirstain kings of that time.

Nonetheless, none of the jews were forced to wear any funny caps. to differentiate them from locals.

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

Bhai jee.. simple question...

the barbarians never accept anyone else, niether they tolerate any other religion.. why were Muslims in minority after ruling of 1000 years.. need to answered... and i 100% sure no one from mentallity of de-grading islam can asnwer this question.

Re: 18% of this world’s population is Muslims

Excuse me…I am not degrading religion of Islam and no one has right to degrade any others belief.

But definately invaders need to be criticized and degraded…whether they are now George W Bush or Umar your r.a. or any other invader in history…irrespective of their religion.
Are you still not able to get my point…why I am against glorifying invaders simply because they were great followers of a faith???:grumpy:

And you are not answering my question instead…I asked you a simple question before—Are Muslims a minority in middle east countries??

Here is one more hint which will answer your all questions:

Umar invaded following countries and his commanders implemented barbaric laws—

(1) Egypt
(2) Syria
(3) Palestine
(4) Persia
(5) Armenia

Are Muslims a minority in above countries???

I hope you will get your answer once and for all.

Re: 18% of this world's population is Muslims

Brother, if i have to take in there history alone where is the justice of being neutral. Zorostraians where out from there, I agree but as an invader people fail to understand and give different names. For no way are we trying to glorify Umar, he is just a normal human and well respected in Islam.

But the stuff you have just written contradicts with history from proven historians. Sucah as Thomas Arnold. William Hart and the Islamic history.
But Umar bringing down temples, synagogue and a church well here is where i request you to look into the history.

Well, when i talk about it, i take a unbiased perspective but, if the truth has to be told from side alone, and its not been corrected its not my idea of learning.
I might be biased at times, well lots of scrutiny has to be done before believing in anyting.

Because for thousands of years zorostraians spoke about it, well not to forget the persian armay was way to strong compared to Muslim army, same thing applies to byzantine army as well.

Why dont people talk about the letter sent to Umar, by the byzantine christians and who welcomed him with open arms coz byzantine rule was really a pitiful for the christians too, not to forget the jews also.

Well, how can we forget the incident, when Umar enter Jerusalem and there he finds a church and a synagogue but doesnt touch a speck of it, but walks away from that spot and prays and which is knows as teh Mosque of Umar.

Regarding the invader part of it, i feel its a harsh word because i dont intend to, disgrace anyone and any religion. To tell you the truth, yes i used to do it before but i am trying to stay away from it.

For a matter fo fact, if someone believes in any faith there is an evidence behind it and its been followed for so many years, and its left to any human to decide what is right and wrong but ofcourse, I would always call you to believe in one God because I am a Muslim.:D

Well, like i told you I asked for evidence because i want to confirm, probably i will have to look from the zorostrian side, though i agree there is still a small group of zorostrians in Iran and believe me they have hatredness against the Muslims.

Take have a nice time, I am out of this thread for now unless i garner some knowledge.:)
