Re: 16 civilians killed by US soldier!!!
^ The Afghans believe that the murder was carried out by more than one Americans. It seems as if the Americans are trying to hide the facts. First they were saying that there was one man involved, now they are trying to portray him as insane.
fortunately American Govt is not trying to paint that pic. Its the media who is trying to paint it. You have to understand that an act like this puts the life of Americans living outside America in danger. US govt does not like that at all. Acquitting the guy would just elevate that danger for the life of foreign based US citizens. US govt knows that too.
BTW, just to let you know that although Media is talking about PTSD, they are also talking about hos this guy has criminal history and how he frauded a couple out of one million dollars in 2000.
Re: 16 civilians killed by US soldier!!!
^ The american government will say and do no more than necessary to mitigate the inconveniences you mention. there is no reason to trust such expediency driven justice. if they investigated more broadly than the one 'crazy' soldier they would risk discontent in the military and their political careers.

What I have observed about American media is that they follow the official US line when it concerns national security issues, for example for a month after the Raymond Davis issue the media tried to portray him as an American diplomat when their defence department acknowledged him part of CIA did the media started calling him as such.
This is not the first incident and won't be the last. When I say that Americans are trying to hide something that's because the persons who have lost their dear ones claim that many people were included in this massacre but the American government has launched investigations against one man. As far as punishing rogue Americans is concerned what punishment has been handed over to Raymond Davis? A few weeks ago some killer in Iraq was handed 2-3 months jail sentence.
Re: 16 civilians killed by US soldier!!!
This is the punishment given to American soldier involved in killing of Iraqis.
**None of the eight soldiers who killed seven children and a 76 year old man in wheel chair amongst others jailed or otherwise punished.
**
American democracy and justice showed its true face today after Marine Corps Sgt. Frank Wuterich who led eight American soldiers in a brutal massacre of Iraqis was freed without any jail time served. None of the eight men who killed 24 innocent Iraqi civilians after there vehicle was ambushed have served a single day in jail; all of them have been acquitted even though all eight of them admitted to the massacre.
**The prosecutors were asking for a mere 3 months in jail. Apparently the lives of 24 innocent Iraqis is not worth even that much.
**
On November 19th, 2005 Wuterich and his men went on a bloody rampage after one of their comrades was killed in the Iraqi town of Haditha near the Euphrates river.
During the trial, one of the Marines testified that Wuterich gave him the order to shoot first and ask questions later. Marine Lance Corporal Humberto Mendoza testified that when he came upon a room filled with seven children and women, he was ordered to shoot and kill them all.
The military tried to initially hide the killing until it was exposed by reporters.
The Daily Mail reported that one of the victims who survived that day Mr. Hussein said:
‘I was expecting that the American judiciary would sentence this person to life in prison and that he would appear and confess in front of the whole world that he committed this crime, so that America could show itself as democratic and fair’.
The freeing of a man who willfully killed 24 Iraqi civilians is in sharp contrast to a Javed Iqbal, a New York man who was jailed for 5 years and 9 months for airing Al-Manar, the media wing of Hizbollah via his satellite services.
So, in the eyes of American “justice” if one kills 24 Iraqis, including seven children and a 76 year old man in cold blood one is set free, but if someone dares to distribute a satellite link to Al Manar he is jailed for a little under six years.
This should be an eye opener to all those that ever thought that the U.S. intended anything positive for Iraqis when it brutally invaded and occupied that country.
Re: 16 civilians killed by US soldier!!!

Dude, that is soooo true.
So much for the so-called "free" media.
Re: 16 civilians killed by US soldier!!!
its ok. he'll walk away with the blessing of the american government. Meanwhile if a muslim did anything like this he is a "terrorist". Terrorism has become a brand name - a word they reach for when they want to get away with its opposite. That white guy in norway that went on a killing spree - he wasnt a terrorist, he was just psychologically impaired. But hezbollah who are merely trying to defend themselves against the israelis are terrorists. In short, anyone who doesn't agree with uncle sam is a terrorist.
Re: 16 civilians killed by US soldier!!!
The numerator/denominator logic basically means that neo-nazism has nothing to do with Anders Breivik, or a suicide bomber was merely a bad apple amongst religious zealots, or acid throwing guys are merely a bad apples and not indicative of the culture they arise from. There are always far more in the denominator than in the numerator. Even at the worst of times for black people in the American south, only a small minority of people ever took part in lynchings.
The point of the links above, apart from the many, many incidents where religious bigotry has been the underlying cause of shocking crimes, is that this mentality is much more widespread than the isolated whackjob. That is a claim that cannot (usually) be made of aggregate statistics of random crime. Yes there may be sub-cultures where rape is joked about, or women are taunted with or threatened with assault. When someone from that group actually commits the rape dont then say it has nothing to do with the culture.
firstly, this guy was an isolated whackjob. there are less than a handful of episodes in the last decade of war in both iraq and afghanistan that come anywhere close to this man's crime. secondly, your comments about culture are misplaced. cultural influence on individual actions can be assessed be a very simple metric: level of public support/condemnation. that's what tells us if the soil is fertile for crazies to grow. in pakistan, huge sections of the population either condone suicide bombing/acid throwing/honor killing or at least aren't particularly opposed to it. same goes for the american south and lynchings in the jim crow era. but you won't find a single american civilian or soldier supporting this killer's actions. if you go to US military forums and blogs, they unanimously condemn him and are furious at the idea that prosecutors will likely attribute this to PTSD.

Except your wrong. Muslim Major Nidal Malik Hasan killed 12 U.S. solders and 1 civilian in 2009, it took months for a mental evaluation to be completed and only this June is he going to trial. He was not charged with any terrorism charges.

And how many people the American forces killed in Yemen in response to that?

Al-Qaida says it killed American teacher in Yemen for ‘spreading Christianity’
Mar 22, 2012
SANAA (YEMEN): Al-Qaida’s Yemen branch said today that it killed an American teacher because he was trying to spread Christianity in the mainly Muslim Arab nation.
Joel Shrum, a 29-year-old native of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, was gunned down on Sunday in the central city of Taiz, where he had been living with his wife and two sons. He was studying Arabic and teaching English at a language institute.
The claim of responsibility, which was posted on a militant website, comes as the terror network increasingly has sought to exploit the political turmoil in the Arab world’s most impoverished nation.
“It was God’s gift for the mujahedeen to kill the American Joel Shrum who was actively proselytizing under the cover of teaching in Taiz,” said the statement by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, as the terror network’s Yemen branch is formally known.
The slain teacher had worked at the International Training and Development Center, which was established in the 1970s and is one of the oldest foreign language institutes in Yemen.
A text message that circulated by mobile phone in Yemen after his killing said “holy warriors” had killed “a senior missionary” in Taiz, the country’s second most populous city after the capital Sanaa.
Shrum’s parents, who reside in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, say he went to Yemen in 2009 to learn Arabic, not to proselytize, and became passionate about teaching business skills to Yemenis.

Exactly my sentiments.... I wonder what has santa got to do with Amreekan terrorism and innocent dead Afghanss!!

The point is this is what is being targeted, al-Qaida seeks to attack the U.S. and they will be pursued globally. The U.S. has spent hundreds of billions of dollars for weapons to pinpoint their targets in order to avoid civilian deaths. It's far from perfect and does not excuse when civilians are killed but unlike al-Qaida's attacks, civilians are not the target. What is your solution, to allow these groups to fester unabated as they were allowed to do so in Afghanistan during the 90's?

That is quite a generalization. Recently and American teacher in Yemen got killed. What was he doing in Yemen you asked? Teaching kids in a school.

Like your stupid US government destroyed the pharmaceutical factory in Sudan in order to save their butt from terrorism and ended up killing thousands of Sudanese people due to cut off of medics? Everyone knows how much your stupid government cares about civilians, Americans or otherwise.
What happened in Afghanistan was fully supported and funded by American gov again to play their dirty little game.

The Sudan attack indeed a tragedy due to faulty intelligence. Since then the U.S. has provided Sudan with billions of dollars in food aid and developement aid, but that doesn't follow the America is evil script, does it? Best to ignore the reality and facts if you want to market the idea that the U.S. is at war with Muslims.

First you bomb then you build roads and schools and hospitals. How nice!
They could've spend that money on American education system which is falling apart, especially in poor states.
