Very sad to read all this. 130+ heat related deaths. Unfortunately this heat struck in Ramadan when people find themselves in between rock and hard place, either stay hydrated or keep fasting.
May Allah swt help the people who have to face the wrath of weather and on top of that wrath of incompetent governance all around Pakistan.
May Allah swt forgive those who died in this heat wave and help the families they left behind.
Type of accommodation is also a reason. U will not find tiny airless apartment in smaller areas. Under such heat with out electricity n in soum with out water ....

Yes apartments could be one reason, not many outside Karachi
There was a record heat this time and unusually spell is very long , Previous always mostly 1-2 days high heat and than air from sea comes for relief , It is continue today
Karachites are waiting for rangers operation against heat
Its probably "longer" spell of heat, people in Karachi are not as well prepared for such high temperatures, plus fasting, plus lack of electricity causing loss of cooling (no fans, no ice) etc.

that was my point, heat itself can't be the reason, other areas have higher temperature. say for example Lahore which has had near to 50 degrees days, and load shedding in rural areas is more than 12 hours. the only thing I can think of is lack of water which has been a big issue lately and apartments.
Why so many deaths in Karachi? The heat wave elsewhere is not any different.
Becuz there are some in khi itself while a lot were actually brought from interior sindh or southern Baluchistan and once admitted in hospital either get treated or unfortunately die so therefore counted as the urban death.
My **question **to everyone in the know:
Is there any charity organization anyone is aware of who is directly involved in helping the victims by providing them meds, getting checkups and stuff like water/food etc??
The least we can do is the give them our charity the help them in this head during Ramadhan
Inna lillah.. Its extremely sad

It's heat plus fast.Heat is unbearable, I live in an area where there is no loadshedding/water problem still a man collapsed in a nearby masjid yesterday while offering zohar prayers and we came to know later that he died of heat stroke.Remember we survived the hottest day wih 43 degrees last month without fast.Main reason is dehydration because of fast and scorching heat.
Was just reading jang/dawn.** Death toll in Karachi has not crossed 722**. Add deaths in Hyderabad and other interior sindh areas and it has **crossed 1000 :(
**Talked to ammi Yesterday and let me quote her

and I was watching these b@$tard politicians on TV this morning trying to scope points most pathetic was Abid Sher Ali of course reminding us that "Nawaz sharif nai 1998 main dhamak keya tha"
The hospitals are overwhelmed, and they're out of saline bags in some hospitals. This is an incredible crap show. You'd think they have disaster plans in place in cities like Karachi, but they don't.
Are bottles of water being shipped into Karachi/Sindh/Baluchistan?
In situations like this, they just need to stop fasting. Seriously.
