Similary don't you think people have the right to choose who should rule them. What about Musharraf, why can't you strive to have a clean democracy. You see everything cannot be achieved just because you have the right on paper.
I give my wife all the rights in Islam and I am commited to one wife alone as I am happier with her than I can be with anyone else.
What if you find another attractive girl. What will happen then. You are allowed to immediately marry another one, talk about your wives rights.
*So don't confuse the issue of rights and practice. Rights are given by Islam if they are not practiced it is not Islam's fault. *
You cannot practice if someoneelse has the power to overrule

I am talking about real world. The question ultimately is about implementation not philosophical bullshit! The equality you are talking about is practiced (by law) for most part in the west.
Seriously, you think a middle class woman in Pakistan will have the courage to dump her infertile husband and find another one as she wishes ??????????????????
Quit living in a fool's paradise.

The only one living in a fool's paradise is yourself. First you bashed Islam for allowing 4 wives and after my explanation your debate has turned to the rights of women. So basically you see the truth but you turn away from it since it is associated to Islam.
So what does your religion Ahmadism has to say about it? Also you were supposed to give me the numbers or address where i can get the books on Ahmadism from.
BTW do you even have a religious book? Kinda like the Bible, Gita, Quran etc

yes and I think the people are strifing for that. Why do you think BB was desposed twice? Or NS the first time. Only this time the army has taken over and also with the support of the public, regardless of your two cents of opinion about a forced coup that holds no depth. Again if you look at the Islamic teachings (as much as you hate to) democracy is imbedded in it, even when it comes to choosing a Khalifa or a PM.
I give my wife all the rights in Islam and I am commited to one wife alone as I am happier with her than I can be with anyone else.

Talk about your wives rights? Lets see what happens in Hinduism. The girl first pays to get married (JAHEEZ) and then is burnt with her husband (Sati) if she survives that barbarism then she is made to wear white and is never allowed to remarry even if she is widowed at the age of 16.
Now if I marry someone my wife has the right to divorce me and go her way. I will have to pay her mehar (monetary sum promised by groom at the time of marriage) and I will have to support my children from her. If I die today she is free to marry anyone and the total moaning period allowed is 3 days. Even in these 3 days she is not required to wear white or black or crap like that. So my dear Dhir, why don't you take off your bias glasses and learn to call a spade a spade. No matter what explanation you have Islam is better, bigger and smarter than all of us which is why it grows and gains strength every day.

So you agree that Islam gives the rights but the society does not. This is a start Dhir.

You are exactly right. He did marry Bibi Ayesha when she was 9. Now it was Ayesha's father Hazrat Abu Bakr who wanted to be related to the Prophet (SAW). However the rukhsati was not till late when she had matured into a young girl.
So what is it now Akmed you are out of arguments to defend yourself that you have started bringing other issues?
Also it teaches us that even if you marry a minor you have to wait till the time she reaches maturity (i.e her menustral cycle).
Also if you read at the time of the prophet (SAW) it was not very hard to marry and divorce in Islam as it is now. So your next argument which would be that how can a minor decide for herself in nullified for Ayesha (RDA)could have rejected the marriage once she attained maturity.
Stick to the topic here and don't go around the discussion.

What you consider holy book is fairy tale for me. Do you really need a book to tell you what it means to practice equality ??????????**

Akmed786 I don't care what you believe in all i am asking from you is the book that you follow. if you don't have a book then a set of rules through which you determine what is right and what is wrong. First you make me an offer to study your text and now you consider it a fairy tale. I am confused now :-(
