12 rabiyalawaal!

*sigh!

I remember back home we use to read naats, there would be a huge assembly and teachers would make everyone read a naat. [well mine did].

I remember naat competition, kirat competition. Maan there was this girl she was becoming a hafiza us ki awaaz sune wali thi mashallah.

aur back in Jeddah- har taraf itni roshi hoti thi ke bas.

I miss my Jeddah hum log umara karne chale jate they.

you know i loved the smell of differet attars that people wore.

even now i can still smell khana kaba…

I hope inshallah Allah tala gives me another chance to come there soon.
:frowning:

so how did you guys celebrated this day.

i see how beautiful people have decorated in Pakistan.

Qawaaliyaaan, naat, kiraat and hamds …

and most of all school and job se chuuti hoti hai… :crying:

Re: 12 rabiyalawaal!

never celebrated birth/death of anyone..

though ONCE a year, for ATLEAST one day, on that day, kam say kam gunah karnay ki koshish zaroor ki...baqi allah aur banday ke darmiyaan

Re: 12 rabiyalawaal!

Celebrating 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal is not an Islamic thing to do
(ref: numerous threads in the rel. forum)

As for myself, this is part of me. I cant remember when I didnt participate in 12 Rabi Ul Awal jalsa jaloos and the Mehfil e Naat that was held in our mohalla every year, complete with decorative flags and jhandiaN and everything.

I agree with nia and I miss everything here

:chai:

Re: 12 rabiyalawaal!

I miss that feeling when you enter the Holy Mosque and you look at Khana Kaba. It is so elegant and the effect is so over powering that for a moment you will forget to speak. I hope I get a chance to take my parents there again. amin :(
I got Eidi from dad :D

uncle bhaandayy I will still stick with ma opinion :jhanda:

Re: 12 rabiyalawaal!

hold on people...

so lights lagana... ghalat hai?

so what do you suppose to do?

I heard some aunties do milaads etc.

Re: 12 rabiyalawaal!

^^ in our culture...light lagana symbolizes happiness. just like on weddings. And whats wrong with milads? Naat was reportedly read in the presence of Hoply Prophet ( PBUH) He didn't object

Re: 12 rabiyalawaal!

Sac to be honest it wasn't a joke! I meant what I said! Y people read naat aur hamd when they can hardly perform other pillars of islam? thats the only question I have!

I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia and I never saw such thing over there..it only happened among paki comunity...wonder y?

Re: 12 rabiyalawaal!

EMMo - Lets close the chapter here :hugz:
you are not comparing apples to apples - you are comparing oranges to bananas
I mentioned already - its nothing RELIGIOUS
Its more a cultural thing… Some tradition that has been going on for centuries. Only in Indo-Pak , There are muslims in China as well and I dont think they recite Hamd or Naat or take out jalsay jaloos on 12 Rabi Ul Awal.
Thats means that the chinese muslims are closer to Saudi Muslims :hmmm:

:chai:

Re: 12 rabiyalawaal!

thankyou uncle bhaanday for clarifying that this is something culturally :hugz:

Re: 12 rabiyalawaal!

Okay
I appreciate and respect your views PG :flower1:

BUT I feel totally comfortable with mine and dont agree with the logic behind NOT reciting a hamd or naat in the praise of the Prophet (SAW). And I dont think my islam is in any danger.. by this act.
