Pagara fears martial law
KARACHI: Martial law could be imposed if the law and order situation worsens on May 12 when the chief justice visits Karachi, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) President Pir Pagara said on Thursday. “If there will be a massacre on May 12 in Karachi, there is no way out other than to impose martial law,” he said while addressing a press conference at his residence. “Martial law should have been imposed a long time before, but if two hundred to four hundred people are killed in Karachi, then there would be no other choice but to impose it. All those people who bought weapons after selling their television sets and refrigerators will be responsible [then].” Pagara reiterated his support for the president and said that the Pakistan Army was united under the command of its chief Gen Musharraf. He added that if martial law were imposed then Musharraf would enforce it.
