Re: 12,000 troops sent at request of NWFP govt to check militants
This kind of polarization is very dangerous. Pakistan needs to find a peaceful solution. We cannot alienate scores of population like this. All parties, government and opposition should come together and come up to a peaceful solution to this crisis, otherwise there will be no Pakistan for them to rule.
The only conclusive way the extremists can express their views are by bloody uprising. Unfortunately, we have no other choice.
Re: 12,000 troops sent at request of NWFP govt to check militants
Why else would India be happy if they didn't support the mullahs blowing themselves up and killing Pakistanis?
They are happy that instead of fighting the Indian army, Pakistani army is busy fighthing in their own country. They are busy in Balochistan, Sindh, Islambad and N.W.F.P.

Indians dont need to worry.
Taliban mullahs do need to worry for fighting against Pakistan. They are criminals and the kharijites of today. They will be hunted in every country they try to spread their fitna and wrongful interpretation of Islam. They are doing india's bidding from what I can tell.
Ask yourself, who benefits most from their suicide bombings, forceful imposition of their own rules, and attacks?

The madness of mullahs is no longer being tolerated.
MANSEHRA: Over 100 clerics, students booked
By Our Correspondent
MANSEHRA, July 14: Over 100 clerics and students of various seminaries have been booked under the Anti-Terrorism Act and 15 of them arrested on charges of ransacking and setting ablaze the offices of local and foreign NGOs in some areas of Battagram and Allai towns during protests against the Lal Masjid operation, official sources told Dawn. The offices of NGOs in Gazikot Township, Battagram and Allai remained closed on Saturday. Despite the deployment of army troops, majority of NGOs have wound up their offices in the sensitive areas fearing further attacks. “The government has failed to provide security to NGOs staff and most of the local and foreign NGOs had shifted their offices from Battagram and Allai even before the Lal Masjid operation was carried out. Clerics and hardliners have been threatening the women staff of the NGOs for quite some time, but the government and law-enforcement agencies have done nothing to stop them,” said an official of the NGO. The sources said the district administration of Mansehra had deployed heavy contingent of the Frontier Constabulary and police in and around the Gazikot Township where most of the NGO offices were located. The angry protesters had ransacked the offices of NGOs and the Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority just after the government launched the operation against Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa. Police sources said the situation in Battagram and Allai was under control after the authorities had taken extra measures to maintain law and order in the areas.
Re: 12,000 troops sent at request of NWFP govt to check militants
yup they should send militants baskets full of laddoo and other mithai every day, soon militants will develop diabetes or cardiovascular ailments and perish. I like the idea..
hahah,
I hope you must be satisfied now, the death toll is increasing with each passing day, and all the casualties belong to security forces, none of the militants has yet been killed.
Probably you are unaware about the traditions in tribal areas.
You cannot deal the matter through force, and if it is tried, it is destined to be a big failure. There, matters are dealt through jirga and that is the only and amicable solution to the problem.
By using the force you can appease the west but you cannot achieve victory rather you have to face more and more casualties.
Re: 12,000 troops sent at request of NWFP govt to check militants
RP, you misconstrued my post.
Who are soldiers and who are civilians? They are Pakistanis and we all are deeply aggrieved at their death.
I asked that so far none of the militant has been killed, only one side casualties (civilians and military) the other side is militants

While we sit in Jirgas and "talk" to these people, they go around expanding their networks, killing pro govt elders, sending people to commit murder in Afghanistan, commit suicinde bombings all over NWFP...
What would you suggest we do? Few months ago the BBC was talking to people in Tank who said they felt let down by the security forces as the Taliban had free reign over the whole area... Im sure troops will die, but atleast this will slow down the parasite taliban expansion.
Re: 12,000 troops sent at request of NWFP govt to check militants
Indians are happy, because at long last Pakistan has started taking some action against these terrorists.
For far too long Pakistan had been a safe haven for this scum.
exactly my feelings. this is the exact same scum india has been whining to pak about for a decade now. the difference is, formerly they were on ISI payroll and well protected.
lal masjid mullah;s fellow shia-hater and best bud maulana masood azhar sahab was given a royal spanking in india jails before his jihadi buddies hijacked an indian plane and had him released. india has long demanded his extradition or punishment, but in pak with his isi pals, he had it relatively easy with raising the jaish e mohammed and killing a bunch of shias.
i hope moderate forces emerge on top after all this has cleared, and pak establishment gives up its policy of employing religious extremists to fight proxy-wars for the state.

If your so happy maybe you should come take the on:)
I mean, for Pakistan, this is a pretty tough fight with many long term implications, and there not all pretty....
Re: 12,000 troops sent at request of NWFP govt to check militants
man im happy that india isnt having to take them on any more since mush has cut their supplies a couple of yrs ago. sufi kashmir has seen them sow their extremist evil over the last two decades completely replacing a comparitively secular and political separatist movement with jihadis, changing the mild kashmiri into a raging fanatic. wait and watch how quickly support for these people rises among gullible lower middle class families all over pak. this is a scourge that is very hard to fight.

Well, two points...
1. Sufi Kashmiris were the initial source of the militancy...
2. India had only Kashmir to worry about, while Pakistan has to deal with it across the country... This has the potential to turn into a far bigger conflict.
