**WASHINGTON - Ten Marines on foot patrol were killed and 11 wounded by a roadside bomb near Fallujah, Iraq, in one of the deadliest attack on American troops in recent months, the Marine Corps announced on Friday. A brief statement said the Marines were from Regimental Combat Team 8, of the 2nd Marine Division.
They were hit Thursday by a roadside bomb, which the military calls an improvised explosive device, or IED, made from several large artillery shells, the Marines said. IEDs are the most common cause of U.S. casualties in Iraq.**
The Marines were attacked outside of Fallujah, about 30 miles west of Baghdad. Of the 11 who were wounded, seven have returned to duty, the Marine Corps statement said. It added that Marines from the same unit continue to conduct counterinsurgency operations throughout Fallujah and surrounding areas.

Terrorist is one who terrorize, be it AlQaeeda or American forces. Ask innocents in Afghanistan and Iraq who had to endured aerial bombing and daisy cutters and they will tell you what terror is all about.

Now, take you average Iraqi out of the country, give him safe haven, protect him, then ask him who the terrorists are . The answer might be somewhat different than what the average Iraqi says when he has to live in a neighborhood with those who would creep into his house at night and slit his throat.
We are in a fight where the most brutal and ruthless may win. Does that make for a good country afterward? Seems to me, that Afghanistan continued to fight for 20 years after the Soviets left. Is that what Muslims really want for Iraq? That seems like the most likely outcome after the ethnic slaughters have died down after the US troops leave...

Hey guys! Could you please be serious? These smart-eliky comments from Ohio-Bubba and his Maulana detractors are not going to ease the pains of an average Iraqi.
We all know that Americans messed up in post-Commie Afghanistan.
Prez. Clinton should have sent in US army and worked closely with Pakistan. Unfortunately he was too chicken to take a bold action for protecting Afghanistan and the region. I don’t know if we should blame his anti-war old history or his pro-Monica recent history.
Pakistan was Clinton’s best bet for securing American interests in the region. He instead went belly-up in bollywood and subjected Pakistan to crippling sanctions. The results of Clinton’s ignorance were devastating for Afghanistan and Pakistan. He also encouraged Al-Qaida by not capturing Ben La-Deen and keeping his chicken-head policies in Somalia, Yemen, Kenya, and Sudan.
Prez. Bush on the other hand has more proactive approach towards the region. He also has the advantage (unlike Clinton) of post 9/11 patriotism. Whatever the cause, Americans (finally!!) are in Afghanistan and Iraq. This is the only way to bring long term stability in the region.
I hope and pray that both Afghanistan and Iraq become peaceful again. The world has already seen too much bloodshed in these countries.
I urge you all key-board warriors to quit these petty squabbles and join me in the prayers for peace and prosperity in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Or put an occupying foreign armies onto the streets of America, drop some daisy cutter bombs and phospurus gas on civilians, subject them to Abu-Ghraib like torture and humiliation, shoot mothers and kids at checkpoints, bomb the fanatical Christian churches that spew hatred all the time, and impose your version of “democracy” as well. That would be wrong for America’s and it’s people, just as it wrong for Iraq and the Iraqi’s at the moment.
Human rights abuses in Iraq are now as bad as they were under Saddam Hussein and are even in danger of eclipsing his record, according to the country’s first Prime Minister after the fall of Saddam’s regime.

If anyone should be ashamed, its the rest of the muslim world. America wouldnt be there if we had our house in order.
So here is my tally:
Total civiliand Saddam on his own killed in 24 years: 200,000/24 =8,333 per year.
Total IRAQIs Americans killed in 2.5 years: 6,000+30,000/3.0 =12,000 per year.
If i am an ordinary Iraqi citizen, and I sit down and ponder for a moment, who, you think, will I pick as a LESSER evil?
Also, mind you, I know once american troops leave, my Shia/Kurd/Sunni neghbor will assrape me first and then kill me (See post #17) . And if I am a Sunni, I am extra-pissed, cuz the Americans just switched sides in the Iraq-Iran war that had started in 1980.
