Don't be so naive. America did not invade Iraq to free the Iraqi people from Saddam's tyranny, but on the lies of WMD, and for oil. America killed millions in Vietnam and Cambodia, which makes them no better than Saddam - in fact they are worse, and Muslims had nothing to do with that.

I agree with your points dope that there are no angels here. But is it a good idea to play the numbers game either way? For example, 1 million Muslims died during partition but does that mean it was wrong? Some could argue that it was and the lost lives were not worth it for Pakistan, while others the opposite. It depends on how Iraqis really feel about democracy or Saddam rule and how much they are willing to sacrifice for it.
The answer to that is almost impossible to know due the propaganda from both sides. But I imagine Iraqis have sacrificed enough.
So, how do we end the massacres of Iraqis? That is our goal I hope. Some points that seem practical to me.
1) Slow but steady withdrawal of American forces as they hand over more power and responsibility to Iraqi forces and peacekeepers for Muslim countries.
2) Hunting down of Zarqawi and his forces, these fanatics are not fit to rule any village let alone a country.
3) Further strengthening of the Iraqi democratic institutions. (Hardest part I think, too many ethnic divisions)

Well now, I’m looking at a realistic way of stopping the bloodshed. I am not interested in jingoism. Innocent Iraqis don’t really care who started what, they want peace.
We know that’s not realistically going to happen. Killing more Americans will lead to American retaliation killing more Iraqis. Do you really want that or another dead-end Jihad like in Kashmir? Fighting for the sake of fighting is not the Islamic way.
As for Zarqawi’s existence, the Al Zarqawi tribe seems to think that he does exist and so do many of his followers, as well as Al Zawahiri. Do I believe them or someone on the internet named after a Russian weapon?
Democracy is better than what Saddam offered Iraq. Unless you prefer rule by the Musharrafs, Saddams, and Mubaraks of the world over elected leaders.

There is a division of opinion in Iraq between the Sunnis and Shias. The Sunnis want chaos because they've been ousted from power by the Shias. All the top jobs, the oil revenues and powerful positions have been grabbed by the Kurds and Shias, so the Sunnis have no choice but to disrupt everything. Don't expect them to take part in any political process.

No body is “blaming” Shias or Sunni Kurds. They are busy improving their future. The only problem is with Sunny Arabs who are still using the methods of Jahliah.
