We need to think why such incident has taken place right now? why didnt they happen before? because TTP is not just name. Some factions might be reactionary, some might be pure rogue elements, some might be remote controlled and this is something so so complicated!
Problem with negotiations right now is that Pakistan is in a weak position and TTP knows that. Dialogue or negotiation of any kind has to happen with a strong position. Army is not in a strong position right now hence TTP is piling it up.

Intelligence agencies always tell but the police don't act, something like that story would emerge again.
There is a serious lack of coordination in Pakistan. In India and US after the terror attacks, they formed a National Security Council kind of umbrella organization for ensuring this coordination. 10 years into this war and we have nothing like it.

More than PMLN, I consider the security forces and intelligence responsible for these failures. What use of ISI when they cant counter these kind of acts?
We haven't still figured out, or don't want to, about which agency is doing what and what is the scope of their responsibilities? ISI is run by army man on deputation but most importantly, it is under the army and it is supposed to be a foreign intelligence agency? Why does the army need two intelligence agencies i.e. MI and ISI?
Fine, get armymen to run the agency but they should be directors on a tenure like FBI and CIA have in the states and ISI should be separate from the army. I liked the idea of imran who said that there are multiple police departments (state, local, federal, county etc) in western countries with decentralized areas of responsibility but have fun implementing that in Pakistan. It truly is JAANWARISTAN back home.

Military action is just a stopgap arrangement.
The British Government also had to sit down with IRA terrorists (who killed innocents over almost 3 decades from 1969-1997) and peace was eventually achieved through dialogue not by military means
Actually, the people of North Ireland, Kashmirs, Kurds, Blochs, etc., have legitimate demands, and to compare them to band of criminal terrorists like TTP is like comparing apples and oranges. TTP does not have territorial demands or claim to represent any groups or have economic or political grief, but they want to impose their backward religious beliefs on others. If you think that women should not be educated, minorities should be forced to convert or killed; anyone who disagree with TTP version of Islam deserves to be killed, than I'm sorry but thats crazy talk. You can't reason with irrational murderous pigs like these. Only thing they deserve is bullet in head.

Speaks volume of the competence of our security agencies. According to the tour operators the terrorists would have travelled 18 hours by foot to reach the base camp and no one could be arrested.

Pakistan is a ZOO-ISTAN where different type of animals wander around and that
if today the world comes to know that somehow 6th largest country called pakistan and everyone living there has disappeared from this planet, tell me one single reason why rest of the world will feel any loss....economically, movies, arts, social spectrum, history, tourism, sports, international investment, scientific invention, literature, oil & gas reserves....tell me one area where we have any meaningful contribution that this world will miss us....actually no one comes to pakistan anymore and no one wants us to come to their countries anymore...rest of the world will be kind of happy that global terrorists and Talibans have no place to hide anymore..
Actually, Pakistan is in the middle of war zone, and there are people who are exploiting the situation, but things are not as bad as what you see in the media, especially Pakistani media. Yes, 10 people got killed, very sad, bad PR for the country, but there are 180 million people living in the country going about their lives that no one is talking about. My family just came back from Pakistan & they had fun times (minus the power outages) and I'm planing to visit visit Galgit next summer (hopefully). This incident hasn't deter me from going there.
Btw, your chances of being killed by terrorists in Pakistan are lot less than getting killed in a car accident, or plan crash or for that matter food poisoning (ok the last one is not true for visitors from west), but you get the point. So, there is no point in overreacting or ranting on and on about how Pakistan is the worse place on the planet because that is simply not true.

The military needs go after these people & there is no excuse for this incident and their incompetence. They also need to cut off ties to jihadi groups. There should be one state/govt and policy, and so so called “non-state” actors should not be part of it.
