The word from the Sindh and Punjab circuits is that Bang Bang is the most in-demand film for Eid, followed by Operation 021 and then Na Maloom Afraad. :hmmm:
Dawn gave it 4 stars out of 5! Movie is good but maybe because its in English and Pushto, not everyone will be able to connect with it. They should definitely release it overseas.
Rarely can an impressionistic blast of sound and vision so clearly convey an emotional state of being. The production value is the best I’ve seen in a Pakistani movie to date, and yet O21 isn’t a mere technical achievement: it’s a heartrending, gorgeously realized story of allegiances and loyalty that wrestles with questions of integrity, justice, and patriotism.
It does not glorify war but depicts it in a gritty realistic, thought provoking way. It’s engaging, unflinching and unique in that it dares to tell the dark and intense stories in the shadows.
Because there's quite a few actors playing american roles in the movie, making them talk in broken urdu or pashto would have looked silly. It was a risky move but the movies getting good word of mouth, Waar was in English too.
Bang Bang is a c grade plagiarized version of Knight and Day with naked dancing women. Operation 021 is an original film. Duffer audience fed on plagiarized trash can never appreciate quality cinema such as 021. Shame on jahil filmgoers.
**Operatin 021 User Review:
** This one is an out and out intense, euro-styled edgy thriller with great photography and performances. It does NOT have an item number, over the top comedy, bad music, cheap distractions and booty show. Shares striking similarity to the initial films done by Spanish greats like Amenebar, Cuaron etc. Please rewatch your pirated copies of Wanteds and Kicks if this one doesn’t match up to your cheap standards. source]

Jami commented on the tribune article! Looks like its a routine practice in these two cinemas.
"It’s not sad what Bambino capri did to my baby O21- what is Sad is that trigger happy newspaper doesn’t have the decency to investigate why what how etc all the questions before putting this horrific HEADLINES. Only these two cinemas had done this kind of thing before with 3 other films this year and always with same distributor.
But we choose a path long time back and then agrees with me that our path is cinema the Akira kurosawa way, Kubrick way. No item numbers no low level film making to earn money, we won’t pick up stories from other films etc etc
so Bring it on
Jami"
Waar was more about visual/cinematography than following a plot/story, I don't remember dialogues from the movie but I think Ali was talking in Urdu. I didn't get why Ayesha and Hamza were talking in English thou that was just unnecessary.

yes thats why i asked bcoz english conversation in waar was looking pathetic, btw i agreed on your statement in bold..
I agree with Jami's comments. The newspaper acted very immaturely by publishing such a sensational article. This only happened in two cinemas and is fairly routine. Operation 21 was ARY, Na Maloon Afrad was Hum Tv, and Bang Bang is Geo. I won't be surprised if Geo was behind Booing/ article getting published. In the past, they have been responsible for pushing Siyaah off the screens to make space for their bollywood flicks.
Operation 21 has received really good reviews and has been called a game changer for pakistani cinema.

Absolutely agree with Jami. Directors like him are the face of progressive cinema.
