Zulfiqar - The sword of Hazrat Ali (RA)

What is the history behind this sword and stories related to it? Is the sword still exist?

Re: Zulfiqar - The sword of Hazrat Ali (RA)

Very difficuilt to be sure.

From what I know it was part of the spoils at Badr and belonged to a Kaffir first and then was a sword of the Prophet and only passed to Ali ibn Abi Talib at Kaibar.

According to the traditions it was a sword with a split blade at the tip, in other words it was forked blade for the first section. It was also unnusual for the time becuase it was apparently of a curved design.

Most Arabian swords of that perod were actually straight blades.

I dont think it was a forked blade or a twin blade sword becuase I have never seen or heard such a blade survive from that time. There are some examples but hard to authenticate. Allah knows best.

The swords of the Prophet were in Turkeys Istanbul museum, I saw them a while back and there was one straight sword with a forked tip but I dont know if that was the legendary Zulfikar.

Personally I think it might have been a drop point blade with a sharp reverse profile.

Right Faris.

This sword which the Prophet now gave to Ali had once belonged to an infidel by the name of Munabba bin Hajaj. This man had been killed at the Battle of Badr, and the sword had come to the Muslims as part of the spoils of war. The Prophet had taken the sword for himself. Now in Ali’s hand this was to become the most famous sword in Islam, killing more men in fair combat than any sword in history. This was the Zulfiqar.

Re: Zulfiqar - The sword of Hazrat Ali (RA)

One of my Shia friend told me that Zulfiqar is now with Imam Mehdi, who will appear near Qayamat. He also told that the sword came from heavens during Ghazwa e Uhad.
