Only reason PPP wins now in Sindh is because of a lack of alternates. WHenever alternates arise, PPP gets thrashed. Badin is a classic example. If other parties form a meaningful ground level presence in interior Sindh, PPP will disappear fast, because Benazir Bhutto was the last true hope for them. Bilawal hasnt been accepted as warmly.
Similar reasons exist for PMLN's hold in north Punjab, where no alternates were present. PTI's attempts to create a presence have been met with outright force (killings, murders, threats and what not, a phenomenon which exists in rural Sindh and Karachi as well)
But that the begs question why is there no alternative to ppp in Sindh? Imran did many jalsas there and even recently he was in Sindh but pti won I think less than 10 wards.

The trend in all provinces say that ruling party (provincial government) has edge over other parties. It might be general perception that the party in provincial government may serve well under local bodies arrangement (release of funds, etc).
Otherwise, when it comes to big big jalsas, PTI still gathers big crowds in Punjab, but local bodies election performance present a totally different picture.
If jalsas were guarantee for success, then PPP did big campaign in Badin and still lost.

People of Sindh has two choices either join Jiay Sindh/separatists or join main stream national party which is still the PPP. It is not a question of corruption as 100% pakis are mentally sick and corrupt.

You go to urban Sindh, and ask why the supposedly 'oh so' urban and educated Karachittes vote for mass murderers and extortionists like MQM, you get the same old excuse of "no alternative". This is "no alternative" rhetoric is very much just a Sindh issue - be it urban and rural, and it is time to admit that it fundamentally reflects the deeply xenophobic mentality of locals where no outside party is ever good enough to be considered an "alternative".
Watch how MQM sweeps Karachi on Muhajir card no matter how many target killers and Indian funded mass murderers are captured from their ranks, and see how they parrot the 'no alternative' excuse.
What makes Sindh so special? KPK never had any picture perfect alternative yet people there had voted PPP, PMLN, ANP, JI, JUI-F, QWP and now PTI. This shows some political maturity and open-mindedness. Similarly in Baluchistan - despite very poor law and order situation and propaganda - PMLN emerged as a strong contender both in 2013 elections and in recent LB polls. So there are bigger and visible chances of competition in war torn provinces like Balochistan (where no mainstream party even bothers campaigning) and in KPK - then places like Sindh. Why is that?
Is there even a desire in Sindh to find/create "an alternative"? Probably not.

I am actually glad that PPP won from Sindh - if Sindhis think the party has served them well for last 40 years, then more power to them. Good - they deserve PPP.
But now there is supposedly an LG in place in Sindh which is dominated by PPP - I hope one day Sindhis like you will grow a spine and question their own party that what have they done for Sindhis on a local level. I wouldn't call Zulfiqar Mirza an "alternative". He's a powerful local don with an armed militia of his own and band of loyal supporters, and the whole basis of his campaign was that "I'm very much still a PPP Jiayla, I just don't like Asif Ali Zardari, but Jiye Bhutto nontheless". So nothing different. PPP simply couldn't be bothered to challenge him otherwise if a weak and non armed candidate was standing - PPP would have thrashed him and killed his voters by unleashing Sindh police and local goons, or asking their loyal to screw the administrative process.
PTI stands absolutely no chance winning a single seat in Sindh even in next 40 years, but if they want to "form a meaningful ground level" in Sindh, then they will unfortunately have to make alliances with likes of Mirza and Mumtaz Bhutto and that means facing a huge public backlash, and I don't think it's worth it. In fact, other than Punjab, they now need to start playing close attention to the events in FATA, and become a meaningful political voice there.

PPP has turned into a dump because this so called "Pakistan's People's Party" and the bastion of democracy basically cannot look beyond a certain family. So called people's party cannot look beyond a surname and uses fake unseen will to choose leader to promote democracy. Ridiculous comparison with PTI. Unlike PTI, it was PPP who had consolidated support in rural areas. PPP enjoyed power at federal level enough times to create a strong network of support in bureaucracy, media, academia, civil society, trading and foreign community etc etc. PPP had always enjoyed much bigger and better support system to survive without Bhuttos - same couldn't be said about PTI at least in this point in time.

Structure of rural sindh is in front of us. Waderas who command entire villages, and hold the entire population as virtual hostages.
I used to work in the Karachi Stock Exchange, and when IPOs are released, only one application is allowed per NIC card. Private goons of waderas would come in from interior Sindh with bags full of NIC cards (belonging to the entire village), and would file applications for each card. The end beneficiary naturally was the wadera or saeen of the village/tribe. Thats how weak the local population is.
Through local presence, PTI can encourage some fearlessness among the local population, enabling people to eventually stand up and have enough gall to take a stand against their waderas. It will take time, but it can happen. It happened in NA-246. PTI didnt win, but people did vote for IMran Ismail.
Anyone who thinks that PPP enjoys widespread support in Sindh even now is mistaken. This is more of a coercion/helplessness vote.
