1 zucchini? ![]()
Best to make zucchini daal.
Don’t peel, just trim sides. Slit lengthwise, and slice med-thin pieces. Do this right after the next step:
So take half cup of channa dal. Soak an hour. Fry an onion and zeera until golden, add garlic, ginger, fry a bit, add 2 chopped tomatoes, haldi, mirch, salt, bhuno until oil separates. Then put the soak daal, sliced zucchini and enough waterto cover and a bit more. Boil, then simmer on low-med until daal is tender.
Re: Zucchini
It is called tori in Pujabi and Tora-e in Urdu.
Torai k bhaji is good option ,.
I love fried zucchini sold in some American restaurants.
Some people make tori , allo k bhaji.
My wife makes amazing tori gosht and tori chicken.
I did not notice you have one , I noticed when Nikki pointed out.
Just use some batter or breading and fry it. Nothing much can be done with one tori.
Re: Zucchini
vhat...I didn't want to buy too much in case I hate it and it'll go to waste :(
Re: Zucchini
I'd say make subzi, but yeah one zucchini isn't going to go very far.
If you just want to try it to taste, make as follows:
Peel zucchini and slice thinly.
Slice onions and saute onions in a small amount of oil (a few tablespoons should be enogh) until the onions are golden (translucent, but not too dark).
Add zucchini to sauteed onions, add salt, cayenne pepper flakes, mircha powder, zeera (cumin) and cook. The zucchini will soften and reduce as you bhoon it (don't over bhoon it, otherwise it'll become mush). And voila - all done! It's one of the easiest dishes to make.

That is fine . But you should have opened thread before buying so we could tell you how much to buy.
Did You never had tori in any shape or form at any of your friend's or family's home ?
Like bhaji or with gost or chicken in it ?
Re: Zucchini
Zucchini is a a bit different specie than Turai. Zucchini is more watery and its coat is edible (can be cooked). Turai’s coat is very thick and you have to peel it before cooking - moreover it releases a special kind of gum as well.
Here’s a turai
And here is Zucchini
Zucchini can be cooked as an alternative to Turai. But it does not taste as good as turai. The light green turai from Karachi’s Malir area is the most tastiest turai I have ever eaten.
Re: Zucchini
Zucchini is **Cucurbita pepo .
**And turai is Luffa. Here in UK we get ridge gourd (turai) which does not come close to Pakistan turi in taste.
Re: Zucchini
You can grill lightly sauté or grill it as a side with your chicken or steak.

Re: Zucchini
I usually make zucchini bhaji (chop onions, tomatoes, zucchini and add all the spices) by cooking everything together. Hubby also loves this greek zucchini fritters i make with shredded zucchini (squeezed dry), flour, feta cheese, onions etc and fried like pakoras.

Re: Zucchini
Hey is zucchini basically qaddu/squash? If so...then I've had it with mixed in with daal. My mom sometimes makes a qaddu salan. I'm not really a fan of it. The best I've had was one made by my cousin years ago. I had no idea that I was even eating qaddy...and she head mint cooked into the salan (instead of as garnsih)...and it just lent a really lovely and interesting flavor.
