Re: Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh

Test Cricket is getting interested now a days

Bangladesh 64/6 Captain Mushfiq is there to rescue the team.

Double-wicket maiden from Chiggy

20.6
Chigumbura to Shuvagata Hom, OUT, whatte catch, Chakabva's pulled out a stunner! Short of length outside off, the batsman pushed at it away from the body and the thick edge was flying away from Chakabva, to bisect the gap between him and first slip. Chakabva dives full length to his right and plucks it out!
Shuvagata Hom c †Chakabva b Chigumbura 0 (3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

20.5
Chigumbura to Shuvagata Hom, no run, swinging in again from outside off, reaches out and blocks

20.4
Chigumbura to Shuvagata Hom, no run, brings it in sharpy towards the stumps from length, he leans forward and defends

Farhan: "For Bangladesh, not every time the middle order will rescue you from disaster. Openers must show some responsibilities."

20.3
Chigumbura to Mahmudullah, OUT, one more falls, one more drags it on and one more twist! It's the big wicket of Mahmudullah! The ball pitched well outside off, seamed in after pitching and Mahmudullah drove away from the body without moving his feet, got an inside edge onto the stumps. Third wicket for Chigumbura
Mahmudullah b Chigumbura 28 (50b 4x4 0x6) SR: 56.00

20.2
Chigumbura to Mahmudullah, no run, full outside off, he wants to drive it on the off side but it goes towards mid-on

20.1
Chigumbura to Mahmudullah, no run, brings it in sharply towards the off stump, Mahmudullah defends it on time

Re: Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh

After Taijul 8 for 37, super spell by chigumbura getting 4 for 7 so fare and I am just wondering why Taylor was giving chances to Chatara again & again ? Poor captaincy i must say. He should go with his successful bowlers.

Re: Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh

Indeed a poor captaincy, again brought back Chatara to get some runs.

25.6
Chatara to Mushfiqur Rahim, FOUR, too wide outside off, the loose delivery finally arrives and Mushy jumps on it. Full and not too wide, but he stretched out and drove it for a wonderful four

Re: Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh

I was just analyzing captain performance from Jan 2011 and almost most of the captains showed very sensible batting including Bangladesh Mushfiq who is also playing the same inning today …

Re: Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh

more darama 82/7 ...Bangal needs 19 runs and zim 3 wickets

26.5
Panyangara to Shahadat Hossain, OUT, Panyangara strikes back, but did it carry? Slower delivery from Panyangara outside off, Shahadat went hard at it to edge it to Taylor at first clip. The Zimbabweans are celebrating, Taylor looks confident of getting his fingers under it. Replays weren't absolutely conclusive initially, but looks like Taylor got his fingers under the ball just in time
Shahadat Hossain c Taylor b Panyangara 11 (16b 1x4 1x6) SR: 68.75

26.4
Panyangara to Shahadat Hossain, SIX, oh that's gone all the way, the crowd erupts! Too many short balls made it predictable, he stayed back in the crease for this short ball coming towards him and smacked it for six to the midwicket boundary

Re: Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh

Bangladesh won by 3 wickets

Time for the presentation:
Brendan Taylor: Credit to Bangladesh, we were mentally weak with the bat, we can't win Tests like that. Our bowlers showed a lot of character. You have to have the mindset that you can win from any situation. We started well and had them three down but dropped two chances. Mushy held his end and marshalled his troops very well. Long knocks are our major worry, 20s and 30s won't help. They played better cricket and we'll come back stronger in the second Test. There was pace and bounce so it was fun. The groundsmen made a good wicket.
Mushfiqur Rahim: We are not where we want to be but the boys played very well and a win is a win. There's a lot of areas to improve on. Our batting and bowling both. Taijul has been great for the last couple of matches, Shakib also bowled really well and Jubair too. It's a total team and all-round effort. To win Tests you have to play big innings to make it count.
Taijul is the Man of the Match: Thanks to everyone who supported me - captain, support staff. I'll try to get better in the future. I am trying to adjust slowly since my debut in West Indies. I only wanted to support Mushy bhai in the Test and didn't want to do anything wrong.
4.12pm That's all we have from the thrilling Test between the bottom two teams in this format. The next Test will start on November 3, do join us then. Goodbye!
Chris: "In the end, I don't think Zimbabwe batted well enough to earn the victory, but it does set up the rest of the series well."
Mazhar Chowdhur: "That tiny 14 runs lead meant too much in deciding the match result!!!"
Sean: "Man! I can't even imagine the 5th day on this pitch."
3.50pm Bangladesh ended the first two days marginally on top and have ended the third day by winning it.17 wickets fell today after Zimbabwe resumed their innings and Taijul Islam wrecked them with 8 for 39. Bangladesh were chasing 101 but started with 0 for 3, before their middle order rescued them. After several twists and turns, Mushfiqur took them home with three wickets in hand. This is Bangladesh's **first win this year, **apart from the T20 wins against Nepal and Afghanistan

2 Bangladesh bowlers who have taken two five-wicket hauls in a Test - Enamul Haque Jnr. and Shakib Al Hasan. Both are left arm spinners, both achieved the feat against Zimbabwe, and both at home.
31 Years since a player has scored a hundred and taken 10 wickets in the same Test. Before Shakib, Imran Khan achieved this double against India at Faisalabad in 1983. Ian Botham is the only other player to have achieved this feat. Shakib is the first spinner.
1 Previous instances of a player taking three five-wicket hauls and scoring a hundred in a three match series. Wasim Akram achieved this feat during Pakistan’s tour to Australia in 1990.
4 Players who take a five-wicket hauls more frequently in Tests than Shakib. Shakib has 14 five-fors in 36 Tests. The table below lists the best matches-to-five-for ratio of all bowlers who have taken at least 14 five-wicket hauls (as many as Shakib) in Tests.

9 Years since a Zimbabwe wicket-keeper last scored a Test century. Regis Chakabva scored 101 during Zimbabwe’s first innings. He is only the third Zimbabwe wicket-keeper to score a Test hundred, after Tatenda Taibu and Andy Flower.
312 Balls Tamim Iqbal took to get to his century during Bangladesh’ s first innings - the slowest by a Bangladesh batsmen. Tamim also holds the record for the fastest hundred by a Bangladesh batsman, off 94 balls, against England in 2010.
21 Innings taken by Mominul Haque to reach 1000 Test runs - the fastest for a Bangladesh batsman. Sunil Gavaskar and Brian Lara also needed 21 innings. The overall record is held by Herbert Sutcliffe, who got to the milestone in 12 innings.
2 Number of times Bangladesh have won two Tests in a series. They did this against West Indies in 2009, and now against Zimbabwe. This is Bangladesh’s sixth Test victory, four of which have been against Zimbabwe.**
