So spreading rapidly across Americas its devastating affects on fetuses in Utero. WHO now saying could spread to all areas with dengue. Am wondering whether to cancel my trip to the motherland even though no cases reported because in Pakistan no cases does not mean none have happened. Hope a vaccine is found found soon cuz it is a devastating virus.

Are you pregnant? If not, you will be fine. Even if you are, I would say you will be fine. Just use mosquito repellant, wear long sleeves etc. Zika mostly in brazil and south america. It hasn't been reported in SE Asia. They just worry about it cuz Zika, dengue, chikungunya all spread my mosquitoes.

I am pregnant hence the worry. May end up going as not going will mean missing a big family event. Will keep ears open for any news of spread to Asia.

well i am here in the Houston, TX and pregnant. very worried about it as i am due towards the warmer months and mosquitoes will be here :( For Texas they have already said that those mosquitoes will show up here. We have had 7 cases from traveler (Houston) and at least 1 sexually (Dallas) transmitted case.
I read more about it and the effects on the baby are worse in the first trimester. But the doctor's were not too sure about how and if it will effect the baby during 2nd and 3rd trimester.
I would go but just have the room/house and surrounding area sprayed well. Have a net cover over your bed if possible and cover up as much as possible. Most mosquitoes repellent are not allowed during pregnancy either so make sure to find something that's allowed.

Zika virus is spreading like dengue as it taking place mostly in North America, Brazil, and Africa hence no vaccine is found or prepare against the zika virus. The world health organization and other humanitarian organizations striving hard to counter this deadliest disease.
