Very nicely put zidane.

What a player!!!

Good that he doesn’t regret headbutting him, and does apologize to all the children!!!

Re: ~! ziDANE'S aftermath statement, regarding headbutt.

Well if they are going to strip Zidane off his best player award they better also take action againt the bytchboy materazzi as well.

Re: ~! ziDANE’S aftermath statement, regarding headbutt.

"LOOK out Marco Materazzi. Zinedine Zidane’s mother knows that you sledged her son and she wants you to know she’s not happy.

In fact, she wants something more.

“I have nothing but contempt for Materazzi and, if what he said is true, then I want his balls on a platter,” Malika Zidane was reported as saying in a London newspaper.

Mrs Zidane was reacting to the infamous exchange between Materazzi and Zidane which led to the latter being sent off in the World Cup final won by Italy on Monday morning.

Zidane headbutted Materazzi in the chest during extra time and the sporting world is still waiting to learn what he said to enrage the Frenchman.

One theory goes that Materazzi said: “We all know you are the son of a terrorist whore”.

you’re still the best!

Re: ~! ziDANE'S aftermath statement, regarding headbutt.

I dont think Zidane heard such insults for the first time. He has played in Italy and spain for a long time and probably have heard even more insulting remarks than those because they are common there. The sad fact is that he lost it at the biggest stage (because her mother was in hospital or for whatever reasons) and he duly apologized for that to childern. He did the right thing by not regretting it. Very nicely put indeed.

Hopefully this should be end of the story (I suspect it though). There is no way he should be stripped off his award.

It is time to minimize insutls and sledging in sports.

Just read it on bbc discussion board :hehe:

The Zidane outrage started well before the 110th minute. It started when both teams came out and there were shouts and words towards Zidane that we couldn’t believe our ears. It was mind boggling to see the world cup start off the way it did. We DO KNOW what transpired and we will be the first to break the news via approval from the Zidane team. However, at this time we want you to think of this. Zindane’s penalty kick was one of the most arrogant penalty kicks you will ever see in a world cup. As a matter of fact Pele said it himself, “that was about as low percentage of a penalty shot I can imagine. It’s as if he was out to embarrass the Italian goaltender in front of the world. A great player and a genius of football like Zidane would never admit that is a high percentage penalty kick.” So ask yourselves why Zidane would take such a shot. We have covered soccer and we hit 42 out of 50 total world cup picks, and we will be the first to tell you that was one of the greatest penalty kicks we have ever witnessed. Why? Simple. It did embarrass the Italian goalie as it was a shot you won’t see often. He put no zip behind the ball. Instead he went right at the goalie and shot it as soft as possible as to embarrass him in an arrogant fashion. Trust us, this stemmed from whaht happened 30 minutes prior to the start of the game. Ii is amazing how the media is playing dumb as if they do not know. A lot has to do with politics. Zidane has an Islamic background so we doubt the world media will cometo his defense. But, “The Snitch” always snitches and will have the full story.

Re: ~! ziDANE'S aftermath statement, regarding headbutt.

Zinedine Zidane was a living legend even before this World Cup. He did not need any more tournaments to prove his legacy, what he has done for his team and Soccer. France needed him and he showed the entire world, at age 34, what he could do. He had played every game with much devotion and determination as anyone could dream of; we have never heard stories suggesting Zidane did not give his best. Question is, as most media suggested, did he knew the scope and magnitude of the game? Off course he did, more than we all can make it out to be. This was his life, passion and dream. Why would he ruin it for 'pleasure'?

Most of the great players get trash-talked and Zidane is no exception. I guess, this time it was way over the line.

“Do you imagine that in a World Cup final like that with just 10 minutes to go to the end of my career, I am going to do something like that because it gives me pleasure?”

 i liked him bfore and i still like him…materazzi had it coming…the italians can shove the trophy up their arse…they played like sissies to begin with…freakin drama queens :naraz:
