Still in medical colleges & engineering colleges, if u have rural domicile u have better chances to get admission. The same in the case for CSS and PCS. Further if we go back in to the history after nationalization u know most of the major institution were govt owned like banks, insurance companies , cement, steel scetor, education on the other hand private scetor was very weak.
as u have admitted that urdu speaking are more educated so thought developed among them that they need to have political representation in the assemblies that can represent them effectively and can secure their employments especially in the public sector.
And i think thier thinking was partly justified............ and no one can’t deny MQM political existence which is very dominant in the urban sindh. If u pointing out the budmasshi they do ......... it’s a fact but now they have made lot of improvement as well. nawaz and BB govt made operation against it but it is still strong and urdu speaking still support them.
Zial ul Haq marhoom played an instrumental role in this regard. Coz he saw an opportunity to make PPP weak in the sindh, like every clever politician does.
This is all rubbish. In continuation of my reply to your post, let me ask you a question. When did quota system was introduced after one Unit? Definitely it was before Zab's government. The system got re-approved in NA during first PPP regime. Zia extended it, followed by successive rulers. mqm was created by this mardood in 1986 since then it is one way or another way ruling Sindh. If mqm was so deprived due to quota system, why Zia extended it?mqm should have then protested and started gharo jalao type of politics which they are very much capable of. More than two decades of mqm rule in province and in centre and quota system is stll there because it is based on giving some relief to poor and deprived educational opportunities to rural sindhis. This will continue till some sort of equality is estabilished betwee rural and urban educational system. Why this issue has created pain in your @$$? Unless you are high class racist and prujudice person.Pardon my french.:)
