He claims to be a Muslim yet has written that he was crucified. How would he rectify the position his faith demands from what his academics has uncovered.

He is being used as a poster child by some organizations, however the poor guys views on islam are not even main stream. He doesn't even believe clear ayahs of Quran which tell us that Essa (Jesus) was not crucified. Rather his says he is a historian (self acclaimed) and actually a Prof. of Creative writing right now, not in Religious history at all.
I pity the soul. May Allah swt guide him.

Didn't watch the video. Have seen this gentleman multiple times on TV. He I believe has a Ph.D in Religious studies. Very Progressive person. A wise man.
I heard that Fox was questioning his knowledge of Christianity. Hence he had to state he had a Ph. D.
Before this I didn't know he had a Ph.D. he never bothered to mention it.
