Zardari perhaps never in his life looked as mature as he sounded on Sunday while denouncing those who had been raising anti-Pakistan slogans in Garhi Khuda Bux during the last few days. He said thrice in Sindhi language “we want Pakistan”, “we want Pakistan”, “we want Pakistan” to respond to some anti Pakistan slogans raised by a section of the mourners of Benazir Bhutto.
Zardari also came out well while intentionally repeating his party’s commitment to remain a national party and continue to be a symbol of the unity of the federation. He said the PPP had been and would remain an advocate of a strong federation.
Reports pouring out of Larkana during the last few days had suggested that anti-Punjab slogans were also raised there and some of the PPP leaders from the Punjab were even roughed up. Without mentioning such incidents, Asif Ali Zardari gave a convincing message to the disturbed Sindhis that most of those killed while guarding Benazir Bhutto on the fateful day were Punjabi supporters of the PPP. “Punjabis have died with your leader,” he reminded them.
He disclosed that most of these Punjabi heroes, who sacrificed their lives for their beloved leader, had become his friends during his long years of jail in different parts of the Punjab. He said that there were many Punjabis who had sacrificed their lives for the PPP and its leadership.
Zardari also sounded perturbed over the destruction caused by the angry mourners of the PPP ex-chairperson during the last few days and made an appeal to all that they should respond to the killing of their leader by voting for arrow, the PPP election symbol.
“Democracy is the best revenge,” was the classic quote of the slain PPP chairperson used in the press conference by both the new young chairperson of the party and his father. Zardari also reminded the people that when Benazir Bhutto was taking the oath of the prime minister for her first term, she told him that she had taken the revenge of her father’s murder. “We will do it again,” he vowed.
“I stand committed to the stability of the federation,” Bilawal said in an extraordinary and emotional press conference following the meeting.
Bilawal’s focus on the “stability of the federation” was significant. Following Benazir’s death, the worst violence was in her home province of Sindh, where talk of separation has been growing. While Pakistan is under no immediate threat of a breakup, the presence of a Bhutto at the head of the country’s main opposition party will be a reassuring sight to its supporters. Indeed, the PPP is the one party in Pakistan that draws significant support from across the nation. Its followers will hope that the party soon gets another chance to test that support.
Inshallah! We will see a new Zardari, who will let his son and the other members rule the party freely. PPP support Is has high as ever. MQM supports are crying as well as PMLQ is.
He has said:"Aik General ko hamne jaane diye, is General ko hum naih chore ge" Right so!
Pakistan will stay where it is...only people are racing toward early graves...
InshaAllah PS: 1.Allah ki shan hy dhamki sun lo bas PPP jeety gi tu Pakistan bachy ga warna dhandli hoi hy or hangamy hon gy. Khulm khula ghunda gardi or ham kuch nahi ker sakty siwaay is ka sath dyny ky bas ab tu Allah hi reham kary:(
More than ever, we need the PPP to save the federation
Pakistan vote delay won’t curb instability
For the time being the party has avoided going into agitation mode, but friction with the government may increase if the administration starts arresting PPP workers in connection with the riots.
This may create wider unrest as PPP workers are in a mobilised state. In Sindh province, such a situation may strengthen the separatist nationalists, with serious consequences for the government.
