In defense of AAZ, I think he has become a pragmatic politician over time & I think he should be give a chance to run the country before we accuse him of crimes we think he maybe guilty of.
Also, let us not forget that AAZ spent what amounts to a life sentence in Pakistan in jail w/o ever being convicted of any crime, and govt spent 10s of millions of rupees hounding him all across the globe w/o much success.
Anyway, it comes down to this. You cannot deny/stop someone from holding a public office until he/she is found guilty of crime & as for as I know, AAZ was never convicted of any crime whatsoever. So, of he is elected & for sake of continuation of the constitutional system, let us respect that & treat him like constitutionally elected president, unlike his predecessor the tinpot.
Again expecting anything from a man who disowns his public statements and whose written (and sworn) commitments mean nothing to him is wishful.
A person who was pardoned under the illegal NRO by an unconstitutional president is not fit to hold any public office let alone the office of the President of Pakistan.
Zardari is an insult to the nation and the people. That is pretty much obvious. It is pretty much obvious that he will leech off the country as he and his wife have done in the past. The question is how much damage control can the rest manage? Or do they even want to stop the damage and instead partake in the looting of the country?

Let us not forget that Swiss courts are still processing cases against him, president of a country is being prosecuted in another country. He is not "elected", just like Musharraf usurped Pakistan's power for 9 years Zardari usurped PPP's leadership after Benazir died and will now become "President" as a result of that. As "Some1" said, "Pakistan aasmaan se gira khajoor mai atka".

Why so many here are unwilling to give Zardari the same benefit of doubt that they are willing to give Nawaz Sharif? Previous rules of Nawaz were not exactly clean of corruption and a model of democratic rule. Now he claims to have learnt from his mistakes and so many are willing to accept that. Zardari seemed to have bahaved himself well since he took over PPP chairmanship. Unlike Nawaz he actually has spent a life sentence worth of time in prison. His crimes and corruption remain unproven in court but he has already served the sentence. The electorate voted his party when he was the head of PPP, so now it is time accept whatever he decides to about president nomination and move on. Why this hippocritical attitude towards Zardari as compared to Nawaz.

I can't give Zardari a benefit of doubt atleast for some of the very well know crimes one of them is planting a shoe-bomb on an investor. This crime if I remember correctly was dropped in one of BB's govts.
Also, he stole the leadership of PPP similar to how Musharraf took over illegally in 1999.
I think these are the fruits of democracy. People have elected crooks again.
I think Pakistan would have been far better if there were no elections in 2002 and people like IK and others would have joined Musharraf and he did not have to rely on the other crookeds like PML Q and MQM. But then Musharraf proved worst during 2007 and 2008 and destroyed whatever good he had done pre 2002.
Kamina Insaan 11 saal jail mein reh kar aya hai, and people are thinking of making that freak the president…what a laughin stock of the whole world would pakistan be…as if we need more entertainment from that division:grumpy:
