Zardari: Mushrraf should quit or he will face impeachment

Now all the corruption cases against Zardari are thrown out…let see how long Mushrraf hangs around before he is shown the door.

President should quit or face impeachment: Zardari
Updated at: 1845 PST, Saturday, May 24, 2008
ISLAMABAD: Co-chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari Saturday said the President Pervez Musharraf should step down voluntarily if he (President) wants to avert impeachment.

Addressing a press conference after the PPP’s Central Executive Committee here, Asif Zardari said his party never accepted General Musharraf as the constitutional President of the country.

He said consultations will be held with all the stakeholders on the draft constitutional package which the CEC meeting approved today.

He said the draft package also includes proposal regarding the tenure of judges but a final decision has not yet been made. The Parliament will be given the authority to deal with all the issues, he added.

To a question regarding the date of return of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain, he said MQM Chief did not say anything about this and “neither did I ask him as to when he plans to return home.”

Earlier, Federal Minister for Law, Farooq H Naek announced the significant points/ proposals contained in the 62-point draft constitutional package.

According to him the package proposes: renaming NWFP as “Pukhtunkhwa”; anyone violating his oath to be declared to have committed treason; restriction on becoming President more than two times; barring government employees’ participation in elections; empowerment of Parliament; increasing minorities seats; restored judges to take fresh oath; National Finance Commission to meet in three years instead of five and; Prime Minister to appoint governors not the President.

Do you believe it will be more, or less than the 30 days that Great Zardari and Nawaz Sharif promised would take to restore the EX CJ? :)

Re: Zardari: Mushrraf should quit or he will face impeachment

Didn't Musharraf say that when people don't want him, he will resign. Him being the man of his words as some of you claim, shouldn't he voluntarily resign staying true to his word? :)

Quaid would have kept his promises, will Musharraf? :D

Re: Zardari: Mushrraf should quit or he will face impeachment

^^ by people Mush never meant people of Pakistan, he mean people in white house...

True, he only listens to his true masters even when they call at 2 am in the morning. :rotfl:

Well, he meant people and not ... ... ... ':D'.

vigoratus bhaijan. GS is not the population of Pakistan. People living in Pakistan want the Greatest Pakistani leader since Quaid-e-Azam to continue. :)

People threw his lota league out of the power. I think that indicates disapproval of his polices. What say you?

So Now, anyone who is not accepting Mushy may not be considered as "people", a new FATWA from Sa1eem..

Is that why Great Zardari's PPP is carrying on with the same policies? Are you suggesting that PPP stands for 'Pervez Peoples Party?' :)

You cant expect a zaleel besharam insaan to abide by his words.

Re: Zardari: Mushrraf should quit or he will face impeachment

Yesterday PML N termed all this as topi drama between AS and PM!

Re: Zardari: Mushrraf should quit or he will face impeachment

mo, do you have a link about that?

Re: Zardari: Mushrraf should quit or he will face impeachment

I will search it but this was the slide which they showed on Geo at around half ten yesterday evening.

With the recent appointment of the corrupt Salman Taseer as Punjab Governor (a Mush favourite), I wonder if this is all topi drama on part of Zardari, whether in Imran Khan's famous words (behind the scenes) Mush, Altaf and Zardari all belong to the same troika!

Who is not corrupt in pakistan.......... why do you guys label one person corrupt and other not?

Pakistani politics is based on ethnicity, favoritism and feudalism. If someone from your ethnicity or group becomes a leader , he/she becomes a hero for you and corrupt to others.

I think there is a lesson learned here. The moral is that you can be one of the biggest frauds in the world but can use this super special magic to get rid of ALL legal woes. Musharraf should try the same magic, don't you think. :)

Lets dismiss that as a rumour then, because Nawaz today, the leader of the PML[N] said that they are working with Zardari on Musharraf's ouster.

This may be true for people who support MQM, myself being "Urdu-speaker" and not supporting MQM would be a counter example.

Any further news on the impeachment? :)
