Zardari cautions military establishment for 'stepping out of domain'

He is telling the truth. It should have been PM and President of Pakistan not Zardari, to check and control their generals, which are definitely playing parallel politics to present civilian leadership and getting out of control.

Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’ - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday gave a hard-hitting speech in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where he lashed out at the military establishment for overstepping its domain.

The former president said army chiefs come and go every three years but the political leadership was here to stay. “We know the country better and we know how to run its affairs," he stressed.

Zardari warned the establishment to refrain from character assassination of political parties. “If you do not stop, I will come out with a list of accused generals since Pakistan’s creation.”

Zardari went on to say he did not want to weaken the country’s institutions, but “they [establishment] should also not try to create hurdles for politicians.”

“This is our country, our army and we want to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them.”

He suggested that the establishment separate itself from politics and not interfere in matters out of its domain.

Turning towards the government, Zardari said PPP was a staunch supporter of democracy, which was why his party backed the PML-N government to complete its tenure.

“Had we joined Captain [Imran Khan] during his street protest and resigned from the Parliament, elections would have been inevitable.”

Zardari said he had supported the government because he did not want them to “later complain they had not been given their due time at the helm.”

“Others might be in a hurry, I am not. I can wait for the sake of democracy,” said Zardari.

Talking about his political achievements, Zardari said he had given the country the 18th Constitutional Amendment, which he said was a milestone in the country’s democratic evolution.

Referring to former military dictator Pervez Musharraf, Zardari said: “I know the dangers that face Pakistan, Musharraf does not. Had he known, he would not say the things he did.”

“I spent five years in jail during the time Musharraf was ruling, but the ‘commando’ is afraid to spend even three months in prison,” said Zardari.

The PPP co-chairman said if his party took to the streets, not just Sindh, the entire country’s roads will be blocked. “The whole country from Karachi to Khyber will come to a standstill and will remain so till I order otherwise.”
Nisar condemns Zardari’s remarks against army

Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan termed Zardari’s remarks as inappropriate and needless.

“It is obvious that Mr Zardari is targeting a sensitive national institution to veil his own wrongdoings,” said Nisar.

The minister said it was unfortunate that these comments from the former president came at a time when Pakistan’s soldiers were sacrificing their lives in the country’s war against terrorism. Nisar said no national institution was responsible for PPP’s diminishing popularity, adding that the party’s own dismal governance had led to its downfall.

“Zardari sahab can say whatever he wants but every Pakistani respects and loves Pakistan Army.”

Says a guy who took control of PPP via a “will”. A true democrat, we should listen to him.

Re: Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’

So who do you want to listen?? N$, IK or AH??? Forget about Zardari, I said he is telling the truth. If you think otherwise enlighten us your wisdom.

Even if it came out from the mouth of NS, IK or even AH, I would have still said the same thing.

Re: Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’

Did you actually listen to the speech? It was absolutely disgusting. Zardari taking a pot shot against COAS while he’s on Russian visit. American making a good use of its poodle at home or what? He clearly looked frustrated and self destructively desperate over what Rangers have done in past few days. Clearly Rangers have done something right.

There is no difference between Zardari and Altaf Hussain (and Modi!), both have started barking and started spewing anti Army hatred because Rangers are closing in on their terrorism and corruption. The same PPP which is howling against Army over Rangers’ press release on Sindh Gov is the same bloody hypocrite party which was defending and celebrating their raid on 9-0!

Who cares. Leeches like Altaf Hussain, Zardari and Modi have tried their best to provoke the military leadership to hide their own incompetence. Pakistan military should not be provoked and Rangers must continue to do whatever they are doing to save Karachi. The whole nation stands behind them.

I really hope PPP alienates itself further and signs on its own death certificate by spewing more Army and ethnic hatred! They think people are fool and they are still living in 70s.

Haram Khor ka paison ko khatra hai.

BTW: My assessment, PPP and MQM will join in to protest ‘Punjabi Army’ victimizing them. They will get a some of their people killed and create a humoungous mess. Then, the army will have no choice, but to back down. and this cycle of haram khor, murderous criminal ‘democracy’ will continue.

Best of luck to karachians.

Re: Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’

Typical politician plus nationalist attitude. Dont tell my corruption to world else I will tell yous.

Re: Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’

This … remained perfect partner with MQM for last more than a decade so if there are crimes both are criminal

Re: Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’

Re: Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’

The same racist PPP was praising Rangers and taking credit for the operation as long MQM was the main target. Now it all took for Rangers’ to pay one visit SBCA to go after the land mafia (i.e Sindh Gov), PPP is back to it’s usual anti Army hate filled howling. For PPP jiayalas, now one thing proven by Zardari’s speech, it is indeed the establishment which is cleaning Karachi, not QAS.

PPP has never been sincere to national institutions. Never. Nor it’ll ever be. The whole part is nothing but a culmination of blind passion for a particular family. Let them go back to pulling the ethnic card and spew racist hatred. Good. Let the party die it’s own natural death. Fast. Reduce it down to rural ethnic centric MQM.

Demise of old corrupt parties would ensure emergence of new political organisations. So allow that to happen.

Re: Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’

More well deserved humiliation for PPP and Zardari. It was good to see Kh. Asif and Ch. Nisar catagorically condemning and shaming PPP for their tirade againt Pakistan Army while our Jawans are fighting the battle of survival for the country. The COAS is in Russia, so good for NS to show some leadership. Finally!

Nawaz cancels Zardari meeting after anti-military outburst - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

Even PPP doesn’t want to endorse Zardari’s mad wooofing. LOL

Truth to be told, Gen. Raheel is probably the most publicly admired and respected General of Pakistan. These two penny criminal traitorous politicians like Altaf and Zardari and their disgusting digs only make Pakistanis appreciate their General more and more. It’s too late turn Pakistanis against their own Army, Pakistan Army has managed to win back hearts and trust of the people. The whole nation stands behind them.

Re: Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’

I would appreciate his comment, if he said that during presidency.

Rangers operation is in third phase. This statement is in reaction. :hmmm:

Re: Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’

seems like PPP has made mind to go on offensive against Rangers/Establishment. I have never seen Zardari losing it so badly. He is under immense pressure. Not sure if it has anything to do with Iman Ali, Bilawal or he think that Rangers are running parallel govt in sindh. Qaim Ali Shah wrote a letter to Rangers (and interior ministry) showing Sindh Govt’s reservations about their raid on Building Control Authority and asked Rangers to work within their “limits” and domain.

Even though I do not agree with lash out of Zardari but in principal I agree to the fact that Rangers have no business raiding Govt offices. 99% of Govt offices are corrupt in Pakistan. Will rangers or army raid same office in Lahore? or KPK or Quetta? or in ISB?

Another downside of rangers raiding and collecting evidence (read paper trail), is that rangers are not trained to do it. They might not be able to prove any crime or worst, they might unknowingly destroy any evidences of these white color crimes. If any such raid was needed, FIA should have been the driving force with rangers providing security/cover

Re: Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’

FIA falls under federal government, PPP and PMLN have political influence on them.
Situation in Badin is bad , Zulfiqar Mirza is inclining towards nationalist or qoom parast jamat. All those factors made Zardari to speak against Military. His statement is also creating cracks on ongoing *mufhamat *between PPP and PMLN. This is test for Nawaz Sharif.

Re: Zardari cautions military establishment for ‘stepping out of domain’

No one is loyal to Pakistan or law of Pakistan including PML, PPP, MQM, Ranger, Army, IK and any other political/establishment figure. Everyone is busy playing good cop bad cop.
