Re: Zardari and Kayani: Two divergent personalities
Now I'll let you criticize Kayani if you really want to. But how the hell can anyone speak in favour of Zardari?
It just seems beyond me.

Re: Zardari and Kayani: Two divergent personalities
Kayani is a bigger american stooge and an even bigger coward then Zardari...with Zardari one can at least argue that he really doesn't have any real power, no million man Army armed with nukes ready to do battle on his behalf, that he is mentally weak and a possessor of a meek personality...
People are either selectively ignorant or forget very easily...Kayani was Mush's understudy and was elevated to the post of COAS by Mush himself...he is no different in thought and worldview then Mush, only difference between the two is Kayani's lack of flamboyance, no hair coloring, no pimp-suits, no cigars, and no public mukkas...other then that both men have the same geo-political and philosophical disposition...
As much as I dislike Zardari, people should get off his back, and direct their anger towards the man who yields the real power in Pakistan and without whose consent, americans cannot continue their drone warfare against pakistani civilians...
Re: Zardari and Kayani: Two divergent personalities
So why the hell is he still sitting in the hot seat. Why doesn't he just walk away? Its not that he's helpless, its just that he chooses to play victim and only focus on leeching off as much money as he can from the coffers (After they're filled up with foreign aid). Rampant corruption, kickbacks, appointing unqualified people, pretty much running the country towards ruin.
Now I don't support anyone else so save the comments about everyone does it too. I don't give a ****. He's the president. That should mean something.

This is the only thing Piliyas have ever done when they are in gov. They rape Pakistan as if it is their baab ki jaagir and then blame "hidden hands" for all the destruction.

Did you know our good for nothing, except for cashing CIA checks, usurping prime real-estate and bombing Pakistani civilians, soormas in the military, generals and officers of all ranks have been looting the country as if it's their baap's jaagir as well...why do all military officers get lands and plots in prime locations, cushy post retirement jobs, etc., when other employees of the government (except for bureaucrats) are not afforded the same perks and privileges...

This kind of thinking though absolute fact and truth is not liked by many here. Perhpaps they are either progeny or related to that class of super elite in Pakistan.
Re: Zardari and Kayani: Two divergent personalities
I am not saying that there is no corruption in the military. I met the chief auditor of Habib Bank with my brother during my last visit in Dec 2009. He told us that there is corruption during both democratic and military rule. However, during military rule, corruption is limited to upper class only - generals, brigadiers maximam but not colonels and below. However, during political rule, even section officers and naib qasids take bribes. Hence, the level of corruption during democratic rule is much higher. Just compare the GDP growth and exchange rates during both types of government to get a clear picture of ground realities. NS had literally brought Pakistan to it's knees in 1998.

Keep dreaming. My friend took Rs 20000 rishwat from me saying that he has to give some one in the office just to move a file for a decision in Islamabad when your gernail Musharaf loyal servant of Bush was ruling with danda in his hand.

**WASHINGTON: US and Pakistani military leaders discussed how to better coordinate combat operations along the Afghan border, the Pentagon said Wednesday, in the aftermath of a cross-border Nato raid that strained relations with Islamabad.**
At the start of three days of US-Pakistan talks, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and powerful army chief General Ashfaq Kayani agreed in a 30-minute meeting on the need to improve cooperation on the Afghan-Pakistani border, Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said.
“We’re both very active along the border and they talked at some length about how we can better coordinate our operations on our respective sides of the border,” Morrell told reporters.
Cooperation between military commanders already had improved on the border “but this incident clearly indicates that there’s more work to be done,” said Morrell, referring to the helicopter raid that left two Pakistani soldiers dead.
Gates also repeated Washington’s regret over the incident, and “expressed his condolences to the families” of the Pakistan soldiers who died, he said.
The US defense secretary stressed that the shooting of the border guards was “unintentional” and that the American military was working with the Pakistanis to make sure it never happens again, he said.
The top US military officer, Admiral Mike Mullen, also attended the meeting along with the third ranking official at the Pentagon, Michele Flournoy, US undersecretary of defense for policy.
Gates expressed “appreciation” for Pakistan’s military campaign against extremists on its soil and underlined Washington’s desire to build a long-term partnership that did not focus solely on security issues, Morrell said.
The Pentagon chief told the Pakistanis that the United States wanted “to elevate this relationship from the day-to-day ups and downs that it has historically experienced,” he said.
Morrell also confirmed that the two discussed possible sales of US military equipment and other military assistance to Pakistan.
The two sides “talked about security assistance to Pakistan,” he said, without offering details.

Agreed. But those who convited him are unfortunately the bigger criminals. Who has courage even to bring them to the doors of courts? Can you?
