The easiest one would be to boil the rice…

Take a bowl 3/4th full of boiled rice. Add milk and sugar and enjoy :cb:

Re: zarda

people a little help here please---

im making 1 1/2 cups of rice for zarda right now... and the last few times it came out a bit soggy... the recipe says to strain the water when its half cooked.... how many mins do you all think that would take given its cooking on a medium-high flame?

Re: zarda

Lol... Riya, you just have to watch them like 3-4 mins after adding them to the boiling water, check and see...

Re: zarda

I don't put milk in the zarda... its only water, sugar etc but the taste is fine,am i makin it the wrong way?

This is what I used!!! I posted a picture on the pulao thread. Lemme get it.

So easy!

ok here is the sweet rice recipe,the way i cook it,and whoever eats it,likes it too much.my family and freinds r crazy for my zarda.so here it is;
ok bring to boil 2 cups of washed rice, and leave them just a little bit uncooked, drain them in a strainer.in the same container(in what you boiled the rice)put some oil, couple of crushed ilaichi and saute them, then put 4 cups of suger,1/2 cup of milk and let them mix toghether, when u feel like its ready, put boiled rice in there, let the rice mix w/suger and other stuff, add some almond, rasins and other dry nuts.when rice are ready put them on steam,i put them in oven for 10 [EMAIL="minuits@350"]minuits@350 degree for steam.then add food colors,i usually put 3 colors, like yellow, red and green.you shoud b cautious about the colors.just little drops mix w/water(if u r using liqiud food colors)and if u r usig powder ones just make right colors, not too dark.now mix them w/spatula.
ok i hope u will make it like that,if u feel like its hard, just come to me i will cook it for u.

Re: zarda

Alas Zarda has been abondoned at most marriges/valimas here in Karachi. You can only find it on soyem and chaleswas these days.

Good old days of my childhood in 70s! There was no wedding without zarda then.

Re: zarda

What is the meetha on weddings these days? Kheer and kulfi?

Re: zarda

Too many varities - custard, lab-e-shreen, gajar ka halwa, loki ka halwa, kufli, falooda, kheer, pudding etc!
