Zakat ul Fitr

I know the norm is to pay $7.5, but last friday our local imam said its $3.5, and we were all :confused:. He had his reason; arabs eat khujoors, and khujoors are expensive, hence the higher amount, again :confused:.

Neverthless it sounds ridiculously low to me, anyone else heard of such low rates?

we pay BD 1 which is just less than US$ 3....

But isn't it supposed to be the cost of the whatever amount of food, IN THE LAND YOU'R LIVING.
