Do we exclude or include the amount of NIsaab(85/87 grams or equivalent) before calculating Zakat?
For Example Nisaab is equivalent to approximately $ 450 and I have savings of $ 1000 will i calculate my Zakat on $1000- $ 450 = $550( amount less Nisaab) or on $1000?

Walekum assalam;
Nisab is the minimum amount one carries throughout the year to be eligible for paying Zakat. Therefore a person who is eligible to pay zakat should include everything that he or she had for a period of at least one year, which includes Nisab. And Allah & his Rasool know best.

The Jinx is right ... there is no personal allowance once it becomes determined that nisab limited has been reached.
