I dont think there is any relevance in Islam to this subcontinental rasm too. I have heard that it is done to “inquire” about a potential rishta.

Can they also tell us if the boy/girl is virgin?

ma1lk, some times I wonder about you. Is this even worth asking? Of course there is no basis of this in Islam. This is similar to "janum kundi" nikalna is Hinud culture, I think.

I just heard my cousin doing this, whereas I have never come across this in arabia, so I was erasing any false notions that do come across my mind. I dont know if it is similar to the hindu ritual, coz Ive never seen the hindu ritual, only in the movies.

Its like a ritual performed by somone to inquire about the characteristics of a person that ur getting married with.

There is no such thing as Zaicha in Islam, it could be that ur cousin was doing it just out of curiosity which a lot of people do…finding out compatibility through star sign etc…but i have never heard of or seen any muslim actually relying on it to make a decision concerning their marriage.

mal1k i think what you're referring to is called istikhara and not zaicha..zaicha is not allowed in islam, according to my understanding
