Hello guys, I will be making a trip to NYC next week. Just wanted to know if there are any famous desi or arab zabiha (halal) restaurants in any part of New York. Any help would be appreciated.
Re: Zabiha restaurants in New York
Jackson heights has plenty of desi restaurants, including Kabab King (the first one that comes to mind)..if you're taking the subway, just take the R, F, V, E, or 7 train to 74th street, get off and just start walking around..ure bound to find a restaurant there...
Coney Island, has more Pakistani restaurants, liek nawab Palace, Bukhara, Paradise East (a new one that opened up).. Theres also Bahar, which si Afghani...
Not sure about Arab food, there are tons of gyro carts around the city (most famous being the one on 53rd and 6th) that are halal...
For pure chinese, theres greenhouse on 29th and park ave south and for Indo-chinese, as well as vegetarian/south Indian restaurants, go to 28th street and Lexington Avenue in teh city...
Re: Zabiha restaurants in New York
Why not try zabihah.com for starters! - the site hosts a list of restaurants but also reviews from customers… extremely useful for frequent travellers!

I have to recommend Curry in a Hurry. That is one awesome bengali place. Very very very very informal, but its good food. And well-priced.

Re: Zabiha restaurants in New York
^ thats right!
Also, I need to know about this Afghani restaurant at the Main Street, Flushing. We used to eat from there and the food mmmmmmm... lets say they serve the most delicious Arabic food i have ever eaten in the US. It's Kabul Kebab House, do they serve Zabiah gosht????? Anyone knows?????
Zabiah.net says it Mashkook and the management itself has sealed lips over this issue.
the food is hard to resist, hard to resist, hard to resist.....:(
Re: Zabiha restaurants in New York
Daiwan around lex and 47/49th....what a joyous culinary experience!!! Pricey but SOOO well worth it!
Re: Zabiha restaurants in New York
curry in a hurry semi crappy place to eat, but i do agree with pyaricgudia...the food is great for the price, and pretty good. i think it was better in past years. Try Bamiyan, its Afghani...on 26th st & 3rd Ave. The mixed platter is awesome, and all the grilled meats are so tender and juicy. Yummy.
