you want a pakistan which is wealthy, afluent and most importantly trendy, it was heading that way but the military needs took over just before bhutto assumed power. first the civil war, then indian nuke tests, came the russians and then the americans. its naturally been true since the seventies that any politician which came only had empty rhetoric to give. the situation is not anyones fault its just like that.

ZAB was opportunistic as any other politician, but he delivered on several fronts which no other politician ever did. He was great in foreign policies and vision for Pakistan.
Achievements:
Political system's stablity (until 1075)
1973 Constitution
Uniting Islamic countries
Nuclear Program
Taking Pakistan towards neutral states during cold war.
Transformed Pakistan Military in a world class forces (yes he was the one who put the foundation of what we saw during 80s and 90s)
Failures:
Nationalization
Quota system
Surrounded by feudal who were the negating factor for his revolutionary vision
Failed to deal with opposition parties
Failed to realize Pakistanis' pulse (for Islamic rule) instead he catered to the 10% liberals and promoted liberal culture/values in society
Debatable:

Thing is in whole world, every country have a plan, long term goal and they work to achieve it.
We can see how far india has come on every front, with out having one man show like ZAB.
They get new leader but their long term goal don't change.
Now us pakistanis are so hope less that one dude, set/follow plans(ZAB), which every leader should set/follow starting from 1947 to end of the world. And we are ready to forgive the big divide he created in society. Poor Vs rich. Which eventually caused crimes, and just like ethnic divide in karachi it seems irreversible.

My question was simple, It would not be more simple to understand as it is now, in todays pakistan. Where we see when masses are fed shyt, carelessly, for short-term gains, it always backfires.

Things are not hidden in pakistan/pakistan-politics. We could not learn lessons from other ppl's history.. now every thing which was done wrong producing results in equal proportions.. in our own society.

no politician can be compared to other, everyone so far has proven to be the bigger ass-hole... ZAB delivered good speeches and that is it... his 5 years tenure has brought such un-ease in the society that there was no body on the road when we was hanged... he literally rolled back the industrial development of Pakistan by nationalization ( which btw was snatching business and awarding them to Jiyalas) back to 40s and 50s...
on the other hand, Altaf Bhai is no different, he did everything in his power to get the Financial Capital of Pakistan a bad name in terms of security... he kept the terrorism high until the terrorism took over in the cover of religion.. i am sure the day we tackle with these religious fanatics.. Altaf Bhai would be back with his ethnic song of discrimination and would start another era of unrest and killing...

lets not forget that he criticized both of them (Yahya and Ayub Khan) and he left Ayub khan's administration ...(he was out of office at tht time) and ...he denounced him as a dictator .. taking away peoples right of living in a democratic nation. as a result he was jailed ... for I think 2 3 yrs in like ... 1968 I believe. this is when he started his political party. And he got immensely positive response from the people of Pakistan ... when Ayub khan resigned ,Yahya khan took over and elections happened in 1970 ... and we all know very well ... he won the elections ...
Therefore, I dont understand where do u see he was PART of their regime ... ??? where did he supported them?? he might have worked under them for a while .. but when he saw thier real faces ... he left the administration ... he was foreign minister in 1960's but after the war broke out with India ... he left Yahya khan's office over tashkent issue differences, not only ZAB was against the tashkent issue but also many other Pakistani who thought .. Yahya betrayed his nation and projected Pakistan people as weak and cowards. It was actually Yahya in 1971 who asked him to come and see him and handed over his powers, because he clearly knew he was failed miserbly. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was the one who put the country back on tracks ... I dont want to list down all the things he did , that no other leader could have done it in such lil time ... I dont wanna make you guys count all his achievements because , since you have so much hatred for him ... Its not gonna make any difference... so y bother???? wasting my energy????
U know what guys ... I won't argue with you guys anymore ... If you would want to keep on hating a DEAD guy.. then go on ... It's not gonna make any difference to me or millions of Pakistani who LOVED him and still do. He was one brave guy , he was exceptionlly brilliant and a very courageous man. and above all he was patriotic , he loved his country, he always used to say he was the leader of poor people, he was needed by them. He gave away his life for a murder that he did not EVEN commit ... if he wanted he could have easily left the country ... he was tortured in that suffocating cell, deprived of all the facilities... despite all these mental and physical conditions ... he stood by his principles. he was true patriotic ... and in this age and time you wont even find someone close to him ... they are all cowards ... sacred for thier lives.
