Here is how to make shrimp scampi:

  • Thaw the desired amount of shrimp in water. Do your chores etc. till it's time to eat them delicious buggers.

  • Heat 1-2 table spoons of extra virgin olive oil in medium-high heat.

  • Saute' some minced garlic cloves; 2-3 should be ok.

  • Lower the heat to medium-low when garlic becomes light brown.

  • Add 1/2 pound of shrimp (about 8-12) in the pan. Cover the pan. On medium-low
heat, cook for 7-1/2 minutes, moving the shrimp around and turning. Don't overcook, 7-9 minutes is more than sufficient. *

The whole process of cooking and eating takes about 15-25 minutes. Deeeelicious!*

Re: yummy shrimp...

You can add shrimps to stir fry, paella, pasta sauce or pullao, along with other seafood or vegetables. If they're big enough you can make a salan - usual adrak lassan bhuno, add onions, fry, add dahi and tomato paste, bhuno, then add clean shrimps. I have a friend who makes shrimp with spinach. I tend to make it with peas. You can make kababs on skewers with vegetables - marinade beforehand in soy sauce, vinegar and crushed garlic, and grill.

Italians make seafood salad a lot in the summer as a main dish - cook a variety of seafood - you can choose what you like but they put in a mixture of shrimp (you can use red and white varieties), pieces of fish, esp dried fish which hold together well, slices of squid, shelled clams and mussels, octupus, etc... and add finely sliced red and green pepper, julienned carrots, black olives, parsley and dress with lemon juice and olive oil. Let it sit for a few hours and then serve.

The important thing to remember is not to overcook it as it can become tough. Shrimps are extremely versatile and once you gain confidence in cooking them you can experiment.
