Yuko Straightening

Hey Girls

I have booked myself in for a Yuko Hair straightening treatment for next week

I can’t wait.. the state of my hair when I wash and leave is undescribable .. like Edward Scissorhand…

I end up having to keep it pulled back all the time with pins and clips

I thought it might be worth it if I pay the moulahs and have permanently straight hair..

hopefully for my trip to Pakistan atleast one thing I won’t be worrying about is my hair

Anyone had this done? I remember shweetdreams used to have it done but I haven’t seen her for an age in the forums

The Brazillian keratin one is way better Confu, I've heard of huge amounts of hair-loss with the Yuko straightening..

Re: Yuko Straightening

I had Brazilian is very expensive?

I'd advise anyone considering Brazillian Keratin Treatment to be careful: the vital ingredient in the straightening treatment is not 'keratin', but 'formaldehyde'.

There are formaldehyde-free one's as well, the results are far better than the Yuko system.

Which likely swap urea, or even other aldehydes, for the formaldehyde; caveat emptor.

All dye's and straightening products are harmful and laden with chemicals. I'm just talking about the end results of using each one. Girls that got the brazilian keratin treatment done their hair was super-glossy and straight.

Re: Yuko Straightening

I don't know if the Brazilian version has come across to sunny England yet Gina. Will research

Re: Yuko Straightening

^It has. My hairdresser really wanted me to do it and said I should try just once to give my hair a few months of rest from heat styling, let those broken hairs grow and generally allow it get healthy again. He seems to think that straightening irons are a far greater evil.

I keep thinking about it but I'm really wary of the chemicals as well. Dunno what to do :(

Not only that but you have to find a sodium chloride free shampoo which apparently is a hassle.

Re: Yuko Straightening

Those chemicals have nasty side effects on your health.... I'm happy with my straightening iron.

Re: Yuko Straightening

Let us know how it goes, Im sure jennifer aniston had that done too.
Personally i wouldnt get it done, I used to kill my hair with straighteners now im very content with my volumized curly hair. Love it, No need for back combing!! Only took me all my life to realise!

If you can avoid it stoppit, AVOID it.. don't think about it. It really causes severe hairfall

Re: Yuko Straightening

I have paid my deposit so going to stick with it..
I have virgin hair.. took me 2 years to grow out my bleached streaks

I also am not a fan of straightening and have just used lush products on my hair.. but don't look like a consultant.. I scrap emy hair back and just want this one chance to let my hair look normal rather than forever straightening it

I was talking about the Brazillian Keratin one you mentioned. Does that cause hair fall too?

I have heard it does.

Good luck.... do tell us the results :)

Re: Yuko Straightening

one of my friend got it done but i am not sure which one and her hair is now turning grey/white. Though she is only 23. I personally prefer not to go thru severe chemical treatments. My hair is MashaAllah silky and straight, i jes need to blowdry or a little straightening at tips for parties.

It does stoppit, a friend of mine had such thick and lustrous hair.. poor thing got it done before an event and suffered! She had to wait for it all to grow back before she could even style it. It snapped at all the wrong places, like an inch from the root. However the yuko one does more damage :(

Re: Yuko Straightening

Hi girls,

I have done Brazilian straightening and it was good only the min. I stepped out the salon, sucks....then I did some research and I found Japanese Hair straightening. The price was 3 times more then the Brazilian one but i think it really worth trying. My hair was wash and wear for a good 10 mths before I need to redo again. I just went back to same salon who did my hair last time yesterday and this time the result was even better. My hair just turn much healither than before. I don't the chemical is harsh at all cause I found my hair in much better shape now. Anyone who is interested in doing, I will highly recommended "Salon on Brimley" in Toronto, I found them on line.
