which one do you guys recommend?.. i dont wanna pay for any of the youtube downloader program, so a freeware wud be good…

Google VDownloader. Works like a charm! It's a freeware. Used it a few times. It downloads directly in a desired format (conversion included).
Another option is to use one of many websites that can download youtube vids in flash, then convert flash to *.whatever using a video converter if u have one.

I think it can handle various web content. Try it out...it doesn't really "install" it's a standalone application and runs only when u load it.

Firefox has a Download Helper addon that plugs directly and then you can download any YT video in its FLV format.
