Yousuf firm on retirement despite Afridis request

Samb bhaijaan- u shud watch all the leaked videos of the inquiry committee...they are much more credible than this article. Inti, Aaqib both stated Yousuf was the one who created this group against Younus and Rana Naveed clearly tells in that video that it was Yousuf's idea to take the oath on the Quran against Younis and I went and told Younis and once Yousuf found out I had told Younis everything, I was dropped from the playing 11 from there on.

So yeah, I have a much bigger problem with Yousuf since he persuaded the players to take oath against Younis and there should be no room in the team for such problem creating idiots.

Younis and Afridi have always been close, so I HIGHLY doubt Afridi would side with Yousuf on such a thing.

this article is based on the videos. everything in there is based on the videos. Aqib Javed mentioned the names he had heard involved in taking the oath. even Osman Samiuddin article implied that Afridi was part of the gang against Younis. when the same people mention Malik, Yousuf and Akmal's names, you go - see told ya so, they're all part of it. as soon as Afridi's name is mentioned the same people whose word was being used against others suddenly lose credibility. why? because they named Afridi as part of the conspiracy.

so, you can tell yourself whatever fairy tales you need to feel better. but fact is that Afridi was part of the gang trying to get rid of Younis.

btw, another newsflash: Malik was also removed because of player rebellion. Aamir Sohail has clearly stated multiple times that he was part of the meeting where Malik's removal was discussed... and the reason other officials gave to him was that 6-7 players were refusing to play under Malik's captaincy. and hence, he had to go. Aamir said that he there and then disagreed with Malik's removal simply because you can't fire captains because of player power and blackmail and warned the members that this meant that captains would come and go every few months because others would gang up on any new captain.

just adding a little bit of perspective for those who are so upset at the rebellion against Younis (I'm too as a matter of principle) but were completely okay with Malik being removed due to the underperformance and conspiracies by a similar subset of players which definitely included Shahid Bradman Afridi.

Re: Yousuf firm on retirement despite Afridis request

Samb: Rebellion against Malik was as wrong as rebellion against Younis. Aamer Sohail was spot on by saying that we should not have removed Malik then as it encourages grouping and sets a bad example. However, the facts presented in Malik's case as compared to Younis's case are totally different. Hence different opinions on both rebellions.

Re: Yousuf firm on retirement despite Afridis request

who are yoyo's elders that he keeps referring to all the times...."meray elders say baat kar laien".....ma nay apnay elders say pooch kay yae faisla kiya ha".... "i will play for Pakistan if my elders give me permission"..... “my elders have advised me to reitre so I am rertining”….apparently afridi has talked to his elders to allow him to come back to cricket again but they have not given the permission……………………rahay naam allah ka… when will cricinfo start an entertainment section where paki cricket news can be posted???

I have a feeling he is referring to some spiritual elders (roohani buzarg) considering how religious he is now days or are they from his family???.....par kon ha yae elders??? drama everywhere...........imagine ponting retires...and then Aussies want him back and he says "talk to my elders"........

Re: Yousuf firm on retirement despite Afridis request

^ These elders he refers to are his spiritual elders.

and I find it rather annoying from him to not give Afridi or media a straight answer for three four straight days. bhayee aap ne cricket khailni hai, aap ke buzurgon ne nahi.

Re: Yousuf firm on retirement despite Afridis request

i see...so they are roohani elders....well i dont want to be disrespectful.....but still....and i do appreciate afridi's efforts to bring all the "cricket elders" to the team becasue we do need them this summer....it will be a tough summer....i think we lost 3 test matches last time we were in england and we had inzi, yoyo, younis....

I really don't like these efforts, its like bringing back all the crap back into the team, we will be back to square one. Yousuf couldn't do much in Australia and still thought he was the best batsman in the team, disregarded efforts of other batsmen. Now that he has been ousted from captaincy, Younis has been ousted from the captaincy why do we believe that this time they will really perform to their potential and play for the country?

well, what are our alternative options?.....how strong our bench is?...what will be playing conditions? We lost 10 matches in Australia and losing everything this summer as well would be a disaster....look, I do not disagree with you in principal but ground realities require yoyo, younis, shoaib akhtar this summer.....now if they don’t perform or underperform deliberately, what can I say……but you introduce new players on less risky tours under familiar conditions…we shd definitely try couple of new players this summer but we cant have a totally new team....we know what happened to us in late 70s when we sent a brand new team to england amid packer fiasco....we lost all 5 test matches miserably.....i mean really badly...so lets remain realistic and try to navigate this crisis to best of our abilities.....

I'd rather opt for a la 2003 than have these guys come back and start another round of in-fighting/undermining. I don't care if new guys lose, I am sure everyone wants to learn and improve unless you are Imran Farhat or Faisal Iqbal. But everytime we re-call old players based on their "skills" we get a taste of their other newly acquired skills. But who am I kidding, this is Pakistan cricket.

Frankly whenever he talks about elders, one name always comes in my mind. Inzi..

And Maulana Tariq Jamil comes to my mind!
