Yousuf and Younis the best Asian batsmen in Aus, SA and England since Jan 2005

This is the most revealing article in a long time

If Misbah can play at 37, then why not Yousuf? He was hard done by PCB. **In hindsight had Yousuf not accepted the captaincy for that ill-fated tour of Australia in 2009/10 (where we lost every single game), he would still be playing test and ODI cricket for Pakistan IMO

re: Yousuf and Younis the best Asian batsmen in Aus, SA and England since Jan 2005

If anything both Younis and Yousuf have performed even better against pace bowlers (column 6) in overseas conditions

Re: Yousuf and Younis the best Asian batsmen in Aus, SA and England since Jan 2005

yaar yoyo has only performed once and that was in england...and that performance alone bumps his abroad average significantly..take that out and he is as pathetic as any other Pakistan batsman in aus and south africa.... lets do a bit of match....yoyo scored roughly 600 (202, 48, 192, 128) runs in that series against England in 4 innings....subtract that amount from his total and he scored roughly 500 runs in 17 innings....well now his average drops to roughly 29 per innings.......it is even worst than salman butt!!! that says it all.....

Re: Yousuf and Younis the best Asian batsmen in Aus, SA and England since Jan 2005

^ but Yousuf did score those 600 (202, 48, 192, 128) runs afterall, which Salman didn't, couldn't.
Why we have to take out his best performances? To prove that he was worst than Salman?

Re: Yousuf and Younis the best Asian batsmen in Aus, SA and England since Jan 2005

you are absolutely right robert .... spot on..salman didn't and couldn't.... so my comparison with salman was wrong but from my analyses I do wanted to make a point that yoyo record outside Pakistan is not as good as it appeared based on the above table.... but then dravid, laxman, sehwag, jaywardana all of them have a patehitc record as well....and these are so called great players....on the other hand, look at the western players record in asia .... so many of them have average above 44 which is really impressive....

Re: Yousuf and Younis the best Asian batsmen in Aus, SA and England since Jan 2005

Our batsman are just pathetic against SA in SA

I only know one innings in Which Younis won a match for us In SA Durban 2007 Even Yousuf Younis Failed

Yousuf has 1 century against Aus in Aus and Younis has none

Re: Yousuf and Younis the best Asian batsmen in Aus, SA and England since Jan 2005

Point noted but that is the whole point about (away) batting averages … they even out in the end.

Not saying we should ignore performances in Australia (our nemesis in tests) but then it is also quite remarkable that Younis has been able to maintain such a high average in those countries without doing anything special which proves that he has been consistent atleast over that period

Some of the greatest batsmen don’t even have such good records against every country and/or in every country. It is just not possible. Ponting (career average 53.44) for instance averages 26.48 in India and 38.52 in England. Lara (career average 52.89) averaged 33.00 in India and 36 in NZ

Even great Viv (career average 50.23) averaged just 19.25 in NZ (77 runs in 3 tests)

And why take out Yousuf’s best performances in England in 2006? It is not like he scored big in one test only. He was consistently good (631 runs at 90.14) over the 4 tests, infact outshone Inzi and many English batsmen in that series.

Re: Yousuf and Younis the best Asian batsmen in Aus, SA and England since Jan 2005

...

Both mediocre batsmen in Australia and south Africa

Re: Yousuf and Younis the best Asian batsmen in Aus, SA and England since Jan 2005

Mohammed Yousaf cud have done so much better.... He was a class and PCB has ruined Mohammed yousaf. He is definitely Better than Younis Khan and other players playing Test and ODI for Pakistan rite now.
