You're Copying Me!!!!

I know that it’s annoying when someone tries to copy the way your dress down to the last detail. But I find it even more annoying…and somewhat funny…when I see girls who point their finger at another and say things like..“Oh I got bangs…and now you got them to copy me. My hair was long first…and now you’re growing yours out so you can out-do me.” Even grown aunties can behave this way.

After a point…it gets ridiculous. The person who is going around accusing you of coppying them…is your style really that original? Were you the FIRST person in the world to get bangs…to grow you hair till your butt-crack…to wear hoop earrings…to dye it red…to get it permed, etc? Chances are you weren’t. And, YOU TOO, may have “copied” your style from somewhere and perhaps that “inspiration” came from a picture in a magazine…or an actress you saw on TV.

I’m not saying that it doesn’t happen where someone really is trying to mimic you…and that can be frustrating…but I also think that some people can take the “you copied me” idea overboard and for the smallest of things. It can also be seen as imitaton being the best form of flattery. What are your thoughts?

Re: You're Copying Me!!!!

I find it weird when girls get really pissed off that someone copies them. I dunno, I still can't understand their reasons.

on a similar note, I bought my friend a clutch/bag for her birthday and she really liked it....I really liked it too so I told her I was going to buy it for myself as well because it was just too adorable....she was cool with it though. :D

Re: You're Copying Me!!!!

There's nothing wrong with copying something from someone if you like it...Doesn't that mean that they person you copy is influencial/ more trendy and also impressive so that person should be happy. What i hate is when people copy everything not only clothes but also, your furniture, the way you type, the way you talk, behave, be friends with the people you socialize with etc...and yet act as if it was them all along and you probably think that way but its not like that or as if you're the one who copies them..that just pisses me off. I have friends/cousins who do that. They copy whatever i do, not just clothes and don't even have the courage to appreciate you first forget about admiting that they did copy me. They try to show as if they didn't know even when i can tell them the dates and meetings when they came to my house and saw what I had in my room, or tried really hard to see the tags of my shirts to find out where i got it from or even just look at my clothes and then get exactly the same stuff...but nope kuttay ki dum hamesha tayre key tayre.

Re: You're Copying Me!!!!

lol, that happened with me and my friends regarding piercings. I had the cartilage, upper lobe and a nose stud and a lot of my friends started getting right after. They always took me along so I could help them and hold their hand. We found it cute, not competitive. Insecure people like that irk my last nerve.

Re: You’re Copying Me!!!

Never happened to me, had the opposite happen though. My sister bought a bag or some such accessory for herself and later i bought the same thing, then i changed my mind and returned it and when sis found out she had a big go at me for not wanting to have the same thing as her cos it was “uncool”. :smack:

Re: You're Copying Me!!!!

I guess it could also depend on the occasion. I've heard situations where there are two weddings in a family that take place in a close time frame....and the brides....cousins try to copy one another, etc. Now that's not cool...especially if it's deliberate.

Re: You're Copying Me!!!!

I'm sure those girls that complain about being 'copied' have copied some celeb/person themselves too. They won't just dream-up a look and begin doing it from the next day. I used to line my eyes with colored Kohl, but then everyone at work began doing the same. At one point we all looked like clones.. I stopped wearing Kohl and so did everyone else!

Re: You’re Copying Me!!!

LOL, there’s this children’s book by one of my favorite authors called Stephanie’s Ponytail. Real cute story, pretty funny too. Each morning while she’s getting ready for school, Stephanie’s mom asks here how she’d like her pony tail done. And Stephanie will either say she wants it the regular way, or she wants it to the right of her head, or the left of her head. Then Stephanie goes to school and the kids scream, “UGLY! VERY UGLY!!!”…only the next day they copy her looks.

So Stephanie gets tired of them insulting her and then copying her…so she decides to get them back. She tells her classmates that she’s so fed up of what they’re doing that the next day she plans to come to school bald. So the next morning…all the kids come to school with bald heads…n little Stephanie comes with her ponytail. :hehe:

It’s genius…I love it. I have got to get that book for my collection. The other picture book written by him that is important for women empowerment is The Paperbag Princess.
